Mods please move to the correct Forum if im in the wrong one.

I have just been prescribed Flupentixol by my Doctor for my severe depression and anxiety disorder. Before that he had me on Sertraline, and before that Fluoxetine. I have suffered from these symptoms since my early twenties, im now in my late thirtys. I have also managed to get an appointment to see a physiatrist/psychologist after begging the Doctor to do so for nearly 2 years. Can anyone tell me what to expect from this medication and is it safe to take?

I can't tell you much cuz they don't have that in America... likewise, I would like to recommend Wellbutrin to you, but you guys don't have that in the U.K. right?

Well I would certainly go to see the psychiatrist or psychologist, whichever they are referring you to, as it does sound like the doctor is going in a new direction but I'm not a medical professional so I don't really want to give any opinions. I'm sure your doctor has your best interest in mind and it never (OK usually doesn't) hurt to try something new.

www.patient.co.uk...

Here in the states they've also started to use the antipsychotics for people with depression as well though usually paired with an SSRI.

I was given Abilify for a while a few years ago as treatment for depression it's also an antipsychotic. I don't really think I was on it long enough for it to have helped any depression symptoms as those usually take a little while to get going and I had to stop taking it because of severe akathisia.

Anyway, Hope it helps.
I also hope you conquer your depression,
