Hello to all the minds at ATS! This is my first thread so PLEASE be friendly!

This user on you tube posted this video today...

I tried it just a little while ago and mine are all flushing "Reverse" also..along with my sink drains...
So is this just a design issue with different models of sinks and toilets or do we have some genuine PROOF here of a "Pole Shift" !?!

Care to explain how a "'pole shift" would effect a bog?

Bahaha crazy old women staring at her toilet looking for proof of pole reversal. No, this is not good evidence.

The first thing you would notice if a dramatic and immediate pole reversal was to occur; planes in the sky would be dropping like flies due to confused and disoriented GPS navigation.

So until pigs fly or planes falls I haven't doubts

HA! Yeah I was suspecting this but she is very convincing that all impending doom will occur with the next flush! ('

Her theory says that if the Magnetic poles have shifted the Bowl will stop flushing one direction supposedly clockwise..and begin to flush counter clockwise! Thats it I guess..! ('

This is the reason why youtube is a very, very bad idea. Every delusional nut job can post their asinine tripe. If breathing was not an involuntary action people like this ditzy broad would suffocate

Toilets in mid-Michigan are flushing clockwise (mine is anyway.)

I'd say someone was visiting Down Under and thought it would be a hoot to freak some people out. Fortunately, this is one experiment even Zetatards can perform at home.

Old news Bart Simpson played this prank way back in the early 90s.

Seriously I wouldn't think one youtube video of a toliet flushing the wrong way would be the first sign of pole reversal.

I will give you a flag for bringing up an interesting myth.

And,no,a pole shift is not happening.

The Coriolis effect.

The effect caused by the rotation of the earth.

The myth goes that if you flush a toilet in Australia the water swirls down the drain the opposite way than in the northern hemisphere, due the Coriolis effect (an apparent force which describes how objects veer to the left or right when traveling on something that’s rotating — see the link above for a good visualization of this). If there were no other forces on that water in the sink or toilet, that would be true. The Coriolis effect does actually make hurricanes rotate the opposite direction in the two hemispheres. But for toilets and sinks it’s another story. The toilet myth is easy to dispell — just peek around the rim of the toilet and you’ll see that the water is jetted into the bowl at an angle, which determines the direction the water swirls. Sinks, however, are a little more tricky.

How many of you are really gonna get up and go flush your toilet? You know you want to.

I don't know what rme@ means.

To be honest any attempt at GPS compensation for the pole shift would be fruitless as the location of the poles who not be static, resulting in further inaccuracies.

Again this is all hypothetical, and we could say that if a pole shift was to instantly occur it could simple shift poles from the exact north to exact south.

However, nature is rarely that predictable. Lol

According to experiments, it is supposed to go counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere:

The subject was later popularized in a famous article in the journal Nature, which described an experiment in which all other forces to the system were removed by filling a 6-foot (1.8 m) tank with 300 US gallons (1,100 L) of water and allowing it to settle for 24 hours (to allow any movement due to filling the tank to die away), in a room where the temperature had stabilized. The drain plug was then very slowly removed, and tiny pieces of floating wood were used to observe rotation. During the first 12 to 15 minutes, no rotation was observed. Then, a vortex appeared and consistently began to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction (the experiment was performed in Boston, Massachusetts, in the Northern hemisphere). This was repeated and the results averaged to make sure the effect was real. The report noted that the vortex rotated, "about 30,000 times faster than the effective rotation of the earth in 42° North (the experiment's location)". This shows that the small initial rotation due to the earth is amplified by gravitational draining and conservation of angular momentum to become a rapid vortex and may be observed under carefully controlled laboratory conditions.[29][30]

en.wikipedia.org...

It also goes on to explain that the shape of what is being drained makes a big difference.

Yes, I did go flush my toilet. Counter-clockwise, but the fact that the water jetted it in that direction is probably the real reason. However, my bathtubs and sinks also drain counter-clockwise. I am in the US.

Maybe the Youtube person should have done a little bit of research before deciding the poles have shifted based on what her toilet is doing...just sayin'....

All in all, though, your OP got me thinking, and that's a good thing. Nice effort, newbie!

This just caused a missive toilet flush all over the world....

I don't even know what direction mine goes in as long as it takes the smelly stuff away .
