I agree as all of the founding Fathers of the US were mostly self-taught as was my great, great, great, great, great Grandfather lol whom had a volume of over 4000 books he later donated to various Universities/historical societies in the Northeast. Many received degrees much later in life for certain credentials both for home and abroad.

Today there a far too many code restrictions on laborers that require certain registrations or certifications that benefit the govt. and unions (some have priced themselves out of the competition though trade tariffs should be imposed to protect local labor) at the expense of the laborer's Right to Work. Right to work laws are currently being put in place where Rand Paul is a sponsor of some of the legislation. On the other hand, you don't want someone unknown or based on one's 'word' to be able to do a job such as electrical work and end up shorting out the whole neighborhood or shorting out the power in your house and taking off without accountability.

All of these issues could be settled with an honest, open, public and 'local' debate. Federal guidelines should be for federal entities whereas local guidelines could be better settled at the local level. Reason works whereas tyrannical corruption and Control never could.

I don't know, It's up to you of course, I would still vote for the person you think is best, regardless of how futile it may be. I did the same at our last general election, I voted for a small party instead of the main 3, we ended up with a coalition and the smaller parties were still on the fringes, but my conscience was clear, none of the main idiots got my vote, and the way I saw it was, not voting was a vote for the status quo.

I was recently laid off of my job and signed up for unemployment this week. apparently, the virginia workforce connection is using Alison for some of their job training...
alison.com...

since once I filled out a simple form, all of my activity with alison showed up on my profile for vwc...
which is kind of neat...
now I got to go through their list and see if there are any that I have been using listed also...

but, well, that kind of answers one of my questions...
if the labor dept is taking these sites seriously enough to use them as part of their job training, then more then likely the employers will take them seriously also. makes me want to put my activity on these sites a little higher on my priority list!!!

with the internet, yes, free education is not only possible, it's becoming a reality. there will always be a need for colleges and universities, but they shouldn't be needed for every decent paying job out there!!!
the first employees for welfare, were the welfare recipeints who recieve on the job training and their pay was basically equitable to their benefits!! now, you need a 4 year degree, and your pay reflects that
it's inflationary and unnecessary!

5% of us voting for one of these you say??
I'd pick any of them (outside of Goode) before I would pick either of the two major candidates, heck I'd vote for mickey mouse before I would vote for either of them...
I've only watched part of the debate, found it too late last night to watch all of it, should have came here...
but well, if johnson is the libertarian candidate, which I believe he is, and so many here are voting for him, maybe my vote will help get him over the 5% mark???

oh well, sorry mickey, gonna put ya away for this year....

It was indeed stated that a vote is only wasted if it's for someone you don't believe in. I'm ultimately inspired to follow my heart and conscience, rather than be pressured to follow the lead of the majority.

Yes, the educational system will continue to migrate online. Even brick and mortar schools today are using alot of online education for their students whereas the teachers benefit as well as they become extremely knowledgeable on the topics themselves. win-win. There will always be a need for the physical teachers not only to administer tests (help eliminate cheats or others taking test$ for the student) but to explain certain topics, answer questions, provide guidance and teach topics that cannot be taught online which are few. Also, as you alluded to, any online courses could/should be accounted/accredited for once they are taken and proven to have been passed by the student. One could learn in their spare time, when convenient and work as well. Less stress, more fOcus/comprehension/retention.

I plan to vote for Johnson myself for reasons stated prior and he should help get the country back on track while being willing to take input frOm the people. The genius of the US came from the inventions/ideas/input from the collective mindset of the people as well as the opportunities provided to 'anyone' who had the contribution to make. Each human being has inherent gifts, skills and abilities to be opened/explored/exploited for the common good and when this is known/appreciated for what it truly Is, one will gain a new appreciation for their neighbor and crime will become almost non-existent.....once people learn to respect themselves and their neighbors and what they inherently/innately have to offer one another as a 'unique' Creation.

From what I understand, even ETs appreciate and learn from unique human creations.
I would imagine to watch a unique creation Create, is the Creators favorite passtime.
The Golden Rule and Hypocratic Oath works for all by design; no reason to recreate the wheel of destiny and these philosophies don't even require literacy, just understanding.

L8ter, Kind Regards.

So it seems like Gary Johnson took first in the post debate poll with Jill Stein at second with about half of Johnson's votes. So these two will square off next Tuesday.

It is really, really sad that the entire nation seems ignorant of third parties....I mean...Gary Johnson wants to legalize marijuana for crying out loud! Imagine if just this one little snippet of his agenda got out....every pothead in America would vote for him lol! Seriously though, the two party stranglehold on America must be broken...

I agree, as I said before, I knew the party I was voting for would not get a seat in Parliament, but there was no way I was going to waste my vote on one of the usual three. :-)

I'm really excited about this debate. Even if you are a diehard Dem or Rep I encourage you to drop in and lend these 'minor' candidates an ear. You just might like what you hear. The establishment duopoly has such a strangle-hold on American politics. We need fresh ideas. Let's Discuss!

The debate begins at 9pm EST and you can watch it HERE
I also hear that C-SPAN, Aljazeera English and RT are also carrying it.

Debating are:
Gary Johnson - Libertarian Party
Jill Stein - Green Party
Rocky Anderson - Justice Party
Virgil Goode - Constitution Party

Thanks for the link.
WOW! Looks like USA is a democracy after all.
Feels so weird but fresh and good seeing real people in real debate, surreal even.

Death to the democratic party!!
And death to the republican party!!

(Vote green party.)

The second third party debate was postponed from october 30 to november 5 due to hurricane sandy bringing havoc to the east coast. Wow. I could almost cry conspiracy here lol, cause most people will have already decided by then emotionally or voted already.

Then we have the romneys and obamas staging relief efforts and donation campaigns to steal the spotlight and get some brownie points. whatever! Maybe the two stooges knew about the hurricane beforehand and setup the agenda accordingly.

We desperately need at least one of the minor parties to rise up and challenge the other two. Of course if we get more, so much the merrier. SPUSA is way behind in ballot access so therefore I have conceded victory to gpusa and libertarians.
