Is the chat room anything like this?

- "I think the election is fixed".
- "Please provide evidence for that claim".
- "I cant, because its intuition from within"

When I was there, we talked abou movies and meditation.

the admins did lower the number a bit
if i was SO i would have put it to at least 300

When I was there, we talked abou movies and meditation.

Last night it was movies, Hollow Earth, some religion, the presidential debate, advise on how to drive a bad neighbor even more crazy, food/diet/health, and the rest a free flow exchange of ideas... and a lot of goofing off. We had a sword conversation.. courtesy of VVV, Agarta, and Rubucant.. which is always amusing. If you come in to the chat like a regular ol ATSer without a chip on your shoulder, youll be accepted, joked with, included and listened to. Its ALWAYS been this way.. You mightl start to feel like Norm off of Cheers before long. The mods join in the serious convos and joke around.. you get to know your fellow members better.. and see that mods are just people who have no weird agendas.. You get a better idea of the "community".

The thing is that we dont typically "fight" as is done on the threads... which is a welcome respite. I mean you wouldnt walk into a gathering of folks and start going off on some tear and get away with it in real life.. you wont in chat. Dont call your host unsavory names, complain about his house or decor.. or slap his guests and poop on the floor : youre fine.. kinda like whats expected in real life.LOL! I dont call that draconian moderation and if things get off track or start heading in a questionable T&C area.. youre never just thrown out that Ive ever seen personally. Doesnt mean it hasnt happened, but in the yrs Ive been here, previous chats and this one.. I havent seen it myself. Typically, youre given the choice to stop or persist and get booted. Some new blood would be nice and there would be more serious convo's in between the silliness if we had some new blood. .. and some old blood if the bugoos are fixed with the character in screen names issue. HIIIINT!

If you dont see a subject you want to talk about or feel everyone is an idiot... maybe contribute a little yourself before running away and crying. Bring up a subject.

It's never worked for me. I have current Java, i click on the "chat rules" banner, and nothing happens.

But not losing any sleep over it. The Forum keeps me highly entertained.

When I first joined (it was summer, I was on vacation), I could get that in just a 24 hour period

First time I went into chat I head my head ripped off with some nasty comments by a couple of members.
A few people out right said that wasn't very nice, and I just held my ground and tried to joke and be polite about it.

Generally folks are very nice in chat, and Omegas Logos always tries to make you feel welcome , as well as others.

Sometimes when I'm feeling very down I avoid it, because there is generally a lot of joking around, and when you aren't feeling so happy, the jokes just don't seem funny, and its not the jokes, its just your state of mind and mood at the time.

Also in chat, when it gets busy, there can be a lot of members throwing out ideas and comments, and it gets difficult to understand who is responding to who, because the chat lines move so fast. If you are a slow typist like me, it can seem difficult to keep up, and make your comment directed at the member you want , without it ending up 12 lines down of the comment you are responding to. Guess I have to work on my typing skills, but I seem stuck on slow, and when I get into a rush, I make tons of errors that I don't see..and ending up hitting send in that rush....which makes for some rather interesting comments.

All in all chat seems like a good place to get to know other members to some degree, and members on a whole are welcoming...but I have to admit I prefer browsing the threads, and being able to take a little more time with a response...but that's just me.

I hope this thread wakes up management to the fact that we need new chat software. It's kinda hard to tell people to "USE IT" when many can't get in due to the type of software used.

And

then

there's the bug that won't allow people into chat that have special characters in their name like Nixie above or myself.

So, alot of people like myself are never going to be able to chat again until the software is either updated or replaced.
