BBC and the mainstream media isn't even reporting these protests, i've seen little or nothing from the newsmedia as far as covering these events
Londontown is falling down, falling down, falling down. Londontown is falling down, unfair banksters. What will the Queen do when it falls down, it fallls down, it falls down? What will the Queen do when it falls down? Unfair banksters. Take her money and then leave town, then leave town, then leave town. Take her money and then leave town. Unfair Royalty.
Nurses, firefighters, teachers and prison officers joined an estimated 100,000 protesters on Saturday in huge demonstrations against the government, loudly cheering calls for a 24-hour general strike.
Union officials and politicians, including Labour leader Ed Miliband, bitterly attacked the coalition's spending cuts, accusing ministers of being more interested in supporting millionaires than ordinary workers.
.
Dave Prentis, leader of Unison, said hundreds of thousands of public sector jobs were being lost as a result of government policies.
"We are fighting for a better future. We are not here today for the millionaires - we are here for the millions of people who don't have a voice. We just can't take any more."
Unite leader Len McCluskey said millions were being pushed into poverty by a government more interested in supporting the country's elite.
Tens of thousands of people have marched in protest at the government's austerity measures. Labour leader Ed Miliband, among dozens of speakers who addressed crowds at the biggest march in London, received a mixed reaction. Other rallies took place in Glasgow and Belfast. The government says austerity measures are vital to cutting the deficit. Away from the rally, the Met Police said it had responded to anti-social behaviour in the Oxford Street area. Organiser Trades Union Congress (TUC), which said workers and campaigners from across the UK were involved with the demonstration, estimated that more than 150,000 people took part while the Met Police has not released an estimate.

Really glad to see more coming out about this now. Agreed it has been very quiet with regards to media coverage and what we'd usually expect to see here on ATS...
Good to know others are trying to find more info.
We need to know. We have a voice that needs to be heard. We will not be silenced by those whoseek to keep us trapped into a system that cannot support itself any longer.
Actually police officers are normal human beings. Police officers are trained to do their job and in these situations this is when their public order training will be used. From your profile I take it you live in Canada so I have no idea how good or bad the police are there but over here in the UK the police are fantastic. I find it disgusting how people come on to forums and slam the police in general terms for individuals mistakes. Do you know what I really hate and cannot stand? It's mindless thugs who attend a peaceful march and break the law to get their 'point' across. The vast majority of people who were protesting were doing so in good faith and a number of them all worked for the emergency services. People should respect their public servants and civilian servants especially in roles where they save lives.
