Am I reading that little chart right - only 647 members cast a vote?

Surely more than that are here on a regular basis?

Just as I thought, most liberals have nothing else to do except mess around with thier computers all day. Bush will win on sympathy. Unfortunately Laura Bush is going to be killed in a Hamas attack on her helicopter in DC in the next few days. It will be a Russian version of the stinger missle. Back off Secret Service it is the bible codes.

Yeah, but most of us don't care. ATS is slowly turning into a political board, which is turning alot of people off. I can't wait until the election is over so I don't have to constantly read the political drivle and get back to the UFO and NWO drivel

EDIT: All the people jumping up and down because Kerry won (or fuming that Bush lost) a non-scientific poll on a conspiracy webboard,
to you.

Actually this poll doesn't reflect the electoral college.
Everyone remembers that Gore won the popular vote, but GWB got the electoral college.

I don't know if SO is up to it, but maybe you could take the blurb stats from the intro thread, and extrapolate out a crude electoral system. IE, most active forums getting more representation then the less active ones. A user who spends more time in one forum then another, would be considered a "resident" of that forum, and so their vote would go to the candidates electoral vote count for that forum.

Whew, that's almost as complicated as the real thing.

I'm reserving my opinion to see who wins the Redskins game on the Sunday prior to the elections. Here's a strange coincidence. The Washington Redskins game has correctly predicted the outcome of the Presidential election since 1930. If the Redskins win, the incumbent President will remain. If they lose, the challenger will win. If you don't believe it, check it out for yourself.

Prophecies such as the one above have a way of selffullfilling themselves.(is that a word)?

What I mean is if they lose the home game football fans get discouraged and don't vote fulfilling the prophecy.
I have done a bit of studying into this phenomenon

Thats a pretty interesting fact. Maybe thats why Bush and Kerry have been trying so hard to win Ohio, a bit supersticous maybe...

On a similar note, voting started today here in Arkansas and I have already voted

I know there is absentee voting, but I thought that was mostly by mail.
What is with all these people going to the polls in Florida, Texas and other states? I don't rmember this happening in other years. I don't remember voting at polls except on election day. It's been many years since high school government classes, but how did I miss this?
Thanks for the info

Errr...

Kennedy lost Ohio in '60 and he won the Presidency. Its widely observed that the first thing Kennedy asked Nixon when they met after was how the hell did he win Ohio.

embrace the democrat mantra that everyone is entitled to everything under the sun (a job, govt healthcare

So only special people are entitled to jobs and healthcare!???

No offense, but I believe it is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; not a job, healthcare and a three bedroom ranch in the burbs.
The last three are not entitlements...really.

Well, first to address a couple of issues:

One) No, ATS isn't as mainstream as some people on this board like to think. And, with that, this affects nothing relevant to the real election.

Second) Great job ATS on another great addition to the ATS community!

I proudly cast my vote for the Bush/Cheney ticket, and I respect everyone's opinions, ideals, and beliefs.

A great mind once said:

"I may not agree with your belief, but I will defend to the death your right to have that belief."

Long live democracy!

Easy mistake to make. Got 1860 mixed with 1960. don't worry about it

No offense taken but without regurgitating the Bill of Rights to me, do you honestly believe that having a job and healthcare are special privalges? You can't survive in this country if you don't have a source of steady income coming from somewhere...so I think having a job is pretty necessary for survival. People who don't have jobs, don't have money...and when those people witness apathy from their own government what do you think that will lead to?

Yes it leads to crime...

Personally, while ATS is an exciting place to come visit, it is not representative of the public as a whole. How many elderly people on medicare come to this site? How many 18 yr old Republicans? It is but another attempt to try and forecast.

My thoughts on Kerry is that he is dangerous. I'm not cracked up about Bush either but it really does come down to those two. Nader fans, while they believe with their heart that he has the answers, simply don't have the vote power. I could go into a triade on why I think Kerry is dangerous, but I am sure that it has been discussed many times before in the appropriate forums.

I belive that Bush wants to do what is right. Yes, I do think he is on some sort of "crusade", if you will. However, if for nothing else these next 4 years to ensure the safety of the country, then I have no other choice but to vote for him. Domestic issues are a problem no matter who is elected. And no president (dem or rep has ever truly solved or greatly alleviated our domestic issues). All great presidents have had their legacies grounded in WARS.

While Kerry has won here, I do not believe that it is representative of the nation at large. Will the race be close, you bet. I still believe that Bush will come out on top.

I guess we will see November 3rd.

Daily Tracking Oct. 20:
President Bush and Democratic rival Senator John Kerry remain tied for a third day as the race for the White House heads into its final two weeks, with each candidate garnering 46% of the vote, according to a new Reuters/Zogby daily tracking poll. Zogby: "It's still neck and neck, folks, and targeting is intense. With Bush and Kerry now tied among seniors, small wonder that Kerry is pushing hard on social security. Recall that in 2000 when Gore faced the same dilemma, he closed out the race winning seniors pressing the social security button. Bushs lead among armed forces families is strongmaybe Sinclair hears the call to reinforce. Similarly, Kerrys growing young voter appeal can only be helped by the draft. Two new items to note: Among newly registered voters Kerry leads 52% to 38%; among those who have already voted, Bush leads 50% to 48%. These two groups bear watching.

Zogby

Analysis Oct. 20, 11:00 a.m. ET: No change in the electoral vote count yet [Kerry leads with 276], but underlying currents are moving to Kerry. Latest polls suggest that a Florida shift to Kerry is more plausible than an Ohio shift to Bush, and a Kerry upset in West Virginia is more plausible than a Bush upset in New Jersey. The quantitative basis for ceding West Virginia to Bush is thin, and online and Democratic polls are making it thinner. We await the first neutral phone poll of October

Slate

Again, as I've been saying repeatedly, new voter registration has been up a 1000% in certain swing areas & across the nation as well; does anyone actually think George Bush's presidency is driving new voters to him!?!?!?!
