0 tolerance. This is what it should have been a long time ago. Like my dad always said, "if you've got nothing good to say, don't say anything at all" In this day and age of social media, you will be tracked down and hunted. Just like all those rioters here in Vancouver last hockey season.

Time for this bullying thing to end my friends. You've got no where to hide anymore.

Calgary mother Christine Claveau saw a derogatory posting on Todd’s memorial Facebook page, and made it her mission to track down the person who wrote it. Read it on Global News: Global Calgary | Man fired for posting negative comments on Amanda Todd's memorial page

So, she found out where he worked, and e-mailed his employer about the incident. The Toronto-based menswear chain took immediate action and fired him, saying they do not tolerate the mistreatment of others no matter what form it takes. Read it on Global News: Global Calgary | Man fired for posting negative comments on Amanda Todd's memorial page

And here's another doozy...

Anonymous Exposes Amanda Todd’s Extortionist |

www.vice.com... -amanda-todds-life

Anonymous has also, supposedly, uncovered the identity of the pedophile that tracked and blackmailed Amanda. In a document they leaked to the text file sharing service Pastebin, they allege that the pedophile’s name is Kody Maxson of New Westminister, British Columbia. To back up their claims, they linked to a Facebook picture that’s protected (so that’s no help) and a quote from an account tied to Kody Maxson on a jailbait forum, where he posted images of nude teenagers and made it known he was blackmailing underage girls.

Here is a mainstream media article, they have a bit of a different take but the most interesting part is the following

The man identified by Anonymous appeared Monday at Surrey provincial court house, where he faces charges of sexual assault and sexual interference with a minor in a case unrelated to Todd. He told CTV News he knew the 15-year-old, but insisted he was her friend. He said he helped identify a man in New York who was harassing her, and claims he passed that information to the RCMP. Whether or not the person was stupid for posting what he did. Getting fired for comments on the internet is absurd.

You can see the autopsy video if you look for it.
If you're into that kind of thing.

I know. I actually don't know how to react but it doesn't really seem legitimate that this 32 year old man just happens to be "friends" with a 15 year old. Considering Amanda seemed to say, in her story, that she had no one. I am not 100% sure he is lying either, but that is not my job its the RCMP's job to figure it out.
(And apparently Anonymous too)

It's not absurd. It's going to be the norm so it's probably good for you to get used to it.

And as for the autopsy. Do you really think there would be a video? C'mon give your head a shake.

I don't know what exactly he posted, but in my opinion this may have gone a bit too far. There are certain things that someone can and cannot say. If there are freedom of speech laws in Canada, and this person did not breach them, then he should not have been fired over this incident. Also, this woman, or whoever tracked the person down, is NOT a "hero" in any sense of the word. While she may not have done anything illegal either, it is still none of that person's business...

And the department store that fired the man may be in the wrong as well, depending on exactly what was said. People need to realize that there are people out there with bad taste, no tact, etc, and should learn to not get offended so easily. People are going to have opinions that appall other people, but that does not mean they should be punished for them, unless they violate some law or statute.

Just because its the norm, doesnt mean its not absurd. Look at dubstep for example

While you are correct about freedom of speech and all, I don't think that applies to places of work. They are entitled to fire whomever they please for any reason. I would also think a company would immediately disavow anything an employee says on or off the clock. Especially something with this type of exposure.

Wow...... This has got to be the stupidest thing I have read all day... All the sudden this girls famous for killing herself.. And supported by people who dont even know her, and wouldn't give a s*** about her if she was alive. This is making me want to post something stupid, people are making it a bigger issue than it is, n making it worse... You dont know her, just leave it alone, let her real friends n family grief...

It seems you're forgetting a little thing called wrongful termination. It means that the employer has to have a valid reason for terminating an employee, not just because they feel like it.

ahemm

An employer doesn't have to give a reason, that's why there's this little thing called severance. Wrongful termination is when an employer fires you for something you didn't do. Such as stealing, etc.

True, except it's not her.

This internet thing, sometimes I don't think it's always 100% accurate..

I dunno about this, on the one hand, I want this idiot to pay severely for his comment. Sure I do. I'm an ass like that. But should he be fired? Well, I guess it all boils down to conflict of interest.

He does not look good for the company.. one that would base it's income on appearance being a clothing store.

yeah, but when do we draw the line. When is saying something innocuous going to come back and bight you ?

I might not see the slope, but my footing sure does feel a little slippery..

You know what the funny thing about this is? It's all the haters out there talking smack like you, that has helped bring this entire thing to the forefront. Isn't that an oddity.

“Bullying is a criminal behaviour in my point of view … and I’d like to see legislation passed on it,” said Leana. “We are waiting too long to do something and it breaks my heart because this didn’t have to happen (with Amanda). This is the new face of violence. It’s scary to be raising children.”

This was a quote from her aunt. It looks they are prepared to go all the way.

I wouldn't go as far as saying anything on a memorial page, but I still dont see y everybodys grieving over some girl who died in Canada... Especially after making a stupid youtube video like that knowing your gonna kill yourself. She should have made a personal video to her family. She chose not to, so the dumb girl is gonna get talked down upon by the public, even tho she is dead, and get no respect. Its nobodys fault but her own.
You know shes suffering a hell of a lot more now than when she was alive.....

Whatever is happening in the other realm to her is anyone's guess but that's not the point. She did make a personal video to her mother FYI. Man, I actually need to break up your post and answer every sentence independently you're so off. Yes, she did a dumb thing but only because she was encouraged by a 32 y/o pedophile who just so happened to appear in court this morning on unrelated sex charges with a minor.

Listen, kids do dumb things. Period. It doesn't give everyone the right to bait them to kill themselves for it. I'm sure the shoe would be on the other foot if it were you caught in a compromising situation. It would be the rest of us adults bailing your sorry ass out of it. If you were a kid. That's what we do. This isn't the Lord of the Flies you know. Laws of teen land do not apply to the real world.

Dont mourn these strangers too much now, someone you actually know might die someday, then you will see y i dont give a ****

Now this is the stupidest thing Ive read for a long time. Please tell us how you can speak for everyone you don`t know?

We know already you don`t/wouldn`t care about her or anyone else thats in a similar position.

Not everyones like you thank goodness and support those who want and need it,not just laugh at their circumstances, let alone a mistake she made when she was twelve.

I think its great that Anonymous was able to track down that creep, well done

I`m all for a harder line on bullies, especially in schools and toward the young frail or weak.Abuse simply because one can is pure cowardice.

There's a reason for these sites and everyone there is helping a random stranger. Kids haven't developed enough to overcome the stresses in life to be able to cope with certain pressures. You still have a lot of growing to do if you can't recognize this. Also, you're not as strong as you like to think you are. It would take every last ounce of your strength to turn your perspective. All you are doing is feeding into your own negativity. I will personally give you a $100 if you put in a effort to scrutinize your own belief system and attempt to approach this from the same angle as "us supporters"

It would be hard for you but not impossible. Make a thread countering your own position and defend it against others who come to balk at it. Force yourself to change your thinking and you will be amazed at how quickly it does. If you can make a thread about why bullying is bad, I will wire you some cash for the incentive. Care to take that challenge?

What kind of worthless human would take the time to find ANYONE'S memorial page, just to leave negative comments of any kind? Seriously. If he got fired, he got fired. There isn't one damn good reason to want to be hateful. And I promise this loser would never have the balls to say anything face-to-face with the family. Just another loser hiding behind a computer, saying anything he wanted online, but definitely to cowardly to voice those opinions in reality. Getting fired was a good lesson in self control and tact.

And before it gets pointed out in a reply, I do see the hypocrisy in what I just wrote...
