Im really surprised that this hasnt been blown out of proportion already with the BBC and the embassy and everything , why arent they being tried as spies ?
Just like those guys from bohemia interactive who were caught taking pics of an army base for their upcoming army sim ARMA III, its the same thing right , trespassing on government military property and snooping around !

I agree I seen that documentary and it was pants !

@kingmonkey , he's alive !

What's the big deal? ... this is a military base where work is done on projects that perhaps we'll need for protection some day, ..

Protection from what?

What is it an advanced fighter plane can't handle, or similar conventional ground- or sea-based equipment?

I think the military-industrial-complex has made a lot of citizens paranoid, thus the MIC get their blank checks for the creation of more sick toys that are likely so insidious they won't be used anyway. Nuclear-tipped ordance etc.

Meanwhile, what is spent on the black budget alone could send tens of thousands of poor students to college.

Subvert the MIC. Question it's reason to be continuously, or you'll never get rid of it. The Cold War is over!

The MIL is the biggest tresspasser of them all. Numerous times they've taken land without care for the lives or property of the people inhabiting it. E.g. in the desert South West.

You should read this book on the topic, it's brilliant:
en.wikipedia.org...

"The hero of the story is John Vogelin, a New Mexico rancher whose land is about to be condemned by the United States Air Force, who want to use his land to expand a bombing range. He is the last holdout among the several people whose land the Air Force wants, and he refuses to move. The story of his resistance to being thrown off his land and his death is told through the eyes of his grandson, who is visiting the ranch for the summer."

Excerpt:
"A cowboy comes up as they are preparing to leave.

"I hear you declared war on the United States Government, John", the cowboy said. "No, they declared war on me.""

I'm wondering when curiosity seekers, media outlets and such are going to start flying/operating/crawling their own drones.

Attempting to sneak onto base property, you're going to get caught.

Drop a small solar rechargable all-terrain crawler over the fence/border and one could camp out for a week, or a month, or however long it takes to creep and crawl the rover drone(s) into opportunistic positions with good sight lines.

It'd be like having your own Curiosity Mars rover, but, inside Area-51 perimeter. Take it slow and sneaky.
That area gets nothing but sunlight near all year round, so, a solar power recharge, and lots of patience in creeping the rover charge by charge would be much more doable than some scheme to sneak a person inside the perimeter.

Id imagine any "secret base" worth their salt would be using some kind of Radio Frequency jammer for just such occasions. Think the tech has been around for quite some time.

Its funny how these people would shot a fellow human being for just being on some land
or seeing some thing they shouldn't.

Think about it why should they be keeping normal people out just because they want
to run top secret operations..

Thats where we differ from Americans we brits would not shoot some one for being on
land..And if they did they should be held accountable..

Its a sign some dessert and a secret facility what would happen if 2000 people
stormed the place shoot there own citizens would make them look worse than syria.!

British gov/military have their own unique installations and if you think you would be given any more access or leeway on an attempt to illegally enter them than in the US you are out of your little gourd!

I guess the reporters didn't believe the signs posted all over the place? The black jeeps on top of the hills...The radar installations that can detect any metal object the military wants to see.?
Oh yea, the hidden camera's and IR detection sensors either.

What a bunch of maroons! It IS a US Military facility, first and formost!

What annoys me the most is that conservatives have a general mistrust of the government everywhere except where it really counts. If you are going to mistrust the government then you should be honest enough to demand to know what the hell is going on with DUMBs, if aliens are involved and to what extent, why we need a black budget that is rumored to be 50% of the total DOD budget, why we need a military base in almost every country, WHY MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT THE DEFICIT IF YOU CAN'T EVEN ADMIT THAT THE MILITARY IS THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR US BEING IN THE #HOLE!

I am so sick of the hypocrisy I don't even know why I post here sometimes.

Of all places ATS should be salivating to find out what is going on at area 51 and other such insidious places. Some things obviously should be classifed but not everything. America is leaps and bounds stronger than russia and china combined....we spend up to 10 times more money then them...that is how pathetically wasteful washington is.
Money that could be diverted for social welfare programs and various infrastructure projects.

What do you think. Would they have let them go if they really had seen anything of worth? Tarmac is probably all they saw for sure. They are probably lucky they didn't get shot.

Funny how it says photography is prohibited. Does it mean of the sign as well?

Yeah they probably saw them coming for a while. Remember the Jesse ventura show when he was there. They were there waiting for them. Motion sensors. They spend our tax money on black programs and wallstreet donations yet don't tell us where the bailout money went or how high the unemployment is or. I know there are secret programs in the military. But at least tell us how high the unemployment really is and audit the federal reserve bank of New York.

Good thing they didn't get shot by the guys in the trucks with binoculars.

On yearly basis the president of the United States exonerates Area 51 of any wrong doing. That right there should raise some red flags. If they had good intentions they wouldn't need the president to give them a seal of approval. You could imagine all the inhuman and immoral things they do there. Everything you couldn't do is being done there. Developing radical warfare tech, biological warfare, cloning to think of a few. Oh we're not doing anything wrong we just clone humans with pigs feet.

Area 51 is a gigantic decoy. Think about it...it's the "top secret" UFO base that 90% of the first world global population has heard all about. I guess it's not quite so "secret", huh?

They USED to have a bunch of weirdness out there in the 50-70's...but those days are long gone. I'd wager that they still do classified work there...but probably more to the tune of analyzing satellite photographs or writing computer code than in reverse engineering any alien tech.

Funny everyone just calls them the Camo Dudes. They are security sub contractors and are fully equipped to handle any problem that arises. Not sure if they do it still anymore, but Pinkerton is one of them that works closely with gov. As I am sure some have seen on T.V. of the security guys in their custom hummers with gat guns blowing up stuff. Basically mercs for hire.

It used to be Wackenhut, who had quite the reputation. I don't know if they are still contracting since the advent of Blackwater and Dyncorp became permanent fixtures to the DoD payroll.

They wern't shot because they are a film crew for BBC, it'd just make people more suspicious and probably end up forcing their way in their, in "Justice" for fallen, curious citizens, that have a right to see what the government is hiding. ... Or whatever BS people would come up with these days.... They should have cut off each one of their feet tho..

Can't believe the amount of people who seem to be supporting the British crew getting shot. Pretty disappointed.
