See: Fisher v. University of Texas

Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments in a case about the University of Texas’ use of race in college admissions.

Judge Andrew Napolitano weighed in on the significance of the case on today’s America Live, saying that the court will either uphold a 2003 Supreme Court decision permitting state-owned schools to consider race in their admissions policies or it will change the law.

Napolitano predicted that the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the case in the first place indicates to him that they’ll change the law. “I think the majority of this court will say you can’t use race. You can’t use gender … you can’t use age, you can’t use race. These are immutable characteristics of birth and they have no place in our society for the state,” he said.

What are your sentiments on this ATS?

I for one welcome the change. An individual's race or gender should not be a determining factor in state school admissions. You can't force cosmopolitanism. Trading discrimination for discrimination only creates more discrimination. Race inequality is not an equation to be balanced out.

My opinion is that school admissions should be like job interviews. It's not about who "deserves" it more. It's not about whose ancestors experienced the most prejudice. It's about who is best for the job. Period.

hurray for america.

you see that token african american and that token latino in your office every morning, those will go the way of the dinosaur.

now your office building will be 100% white, and the only latinos and blacks with college degrees you'll see is at lunch time, bringing you your blt with a smile as it should be.

wait, scratch college degrees, they'll never get in. unless they have the i.q. of einstein or can drop 30 pts in a game.

welcome to america 1960. the golden age. that's what america was missing, real racism and keeping blacks in their place.

ed. note: the preceding post was written with extreme sarcasm.

Education is important for everyone, not just minority groups. Race or any consequence of genetics shouldn't be an issue.

Why is that only non-whites can be victims of racism?

Even Morgan Freeman agrees that the best way to solve racism is to "stop talking about it".
