I Believe I Was Visited by Spirit of Kitty!

For all those who have lost an animal friend, I have had a wonderful and life changing experience I must share.

My beloved friend Meow was with me for 18 years. She came to me out of the blue when I was in great distress after a very horrendous divorce and great loss in my life. We were very close, she spent every evening sitting on my lap.

My little girl died a very painful death a few years ago, and I have felt so guilty as I should have had her put to sleep much sooner. When she died I could not reach a vet it was late Sunday and she was screaming in pain.

I let the little area of the garden which was mine and her favorite and where she died, go to weeds and had not touched it for years. it is a little plant walled "room" with a mint ground cover carpet and a small fountain and bench.We spent many happy hours there her laying in the sun and me reading a book or weeding and pruning the roses.

Yesterday I started weeding this area after years of neglect, and of course I was thinking of my beautiful Kitty and I was happy in the garden but guilt came again and I grew sad. I started talking to Meow out loud just like I used to when she was with me, as I worked.

I was still weeding there about 30 minuets latter when suddenly I grew cold, very cold and huge billows of steam came from my mouth! Way more then I get on a cold winter morning!

I though wow, maybe the ground is damper in this spot and cold for some reason, so I stood up and walked the circle of the "room" and the billows of white steam still came out my mouth and I the cold followed me..

Suddenly I remembered how they always say if a spirit visits they can bring a cold spot and you can see your breath! So I though Kitty! I said aloud "Good girl Meow".

And it stopped instantly. I was warm again, the steaming breath was gone! I went and checked the outside temp guage it said it was 62 degrees out.

This is so BIG! I can't think of any other possible explanation but that she visited me! She is out there! I am boggled so every animal must have an afterlife, even the pigs, chickens and cows that people slaughter, the deer the geese that are hunted?
If anyone can tell me another possible explanation for what occurred I will gladly reasonably look at that explanation!

I think I like yours the best.

My sister lives in Kentucky on 100 acres of land. She swears she has seen ghost dogs running and vanishing before her eyes. ...I think animals do have souls!...

We all have souls/spirits, even the rocks and trees and the wind.

In ancient times it was accepted as self-evident fact. Only since the times of monotheistic religions and more recently materialism has humanity on the whole devolved to the point where it can no longer see / refuses to believe the truth of the matter.

Meow lives, and waits for you.

Char-lee, so glad this was the first story I read at ATS today. Sorry your kitty died painfully, Her suffering is over. You both were blessed with a loving friend.

Yes, Meow visited you with love and closure. How Blessed are our ties with our Furry Friends. Thank You for sharing this wonderful event with us. I think Meow is pleased you are once again, taking care of the garden spot that obviously, was as important to her, as it was to you. It's a powerful healing place of love and acceptance....

Thank all of you so much, I am crying now but with happiness, her death and my guilt for letting her suffer has really caused me pain! I felt like maybe she was forgiving me. I honestly try to look at everything from all sides. I have had some weird things happen in my life, but this is the only one I can find no possible "other" explanaton for! It has changed me!

I had a post in another thread that asked the question "Do animals have souls" I would like to share a quote from that post with you.

A few years ago I went to Lilydale, a town of spiritualists in my area. Now I'm not really a believer in that stuff, but I met a medium there who said that I must love animals, because their spirits surround me. That really took me back. This person then proceeded to describe my dogs and cats who were no longer alive. Her descriptions were accurate and I was suprised. I had never met this person before and she had no way to know what my former pets looked like. Yet she described each one to a T. I have no explaination for this. But it makes me wonder

I do believe that your precious Meow was happy that you were in your special place, and she was there with you.

I have had a beloved cat come and visit me after death. I would feel a cold breeze in the house as I was working in the kitchen, and then the feeling that a cat was rubbing against my legs, as she would so often do while begging for scraps. I also saw her run down our hallway, and I would run after her, only to find nothing there but a chilly spot.

I suspect that cats who die rather suddenly, and have a strong bond with their owners, are the ones who come back. At least that has been my experience.

Energy cannot cease to exist, it simply transfers. Only the power of love can bring the energy back into our physical dimension. The bond between you and Meow must have been strong indeed.

The way she came to be with me was a strange thing in itself. I had just had the last of my children leave home, I had found out my husband of 22 years, while traveling for the business we had built, had formed numerous relationships, both like marriages he owed homes and had young women that he was "engaged" too!

This little Kitty showed up when i was suicidal. She stayed on my doorstep and I would not feed her as I believed she would go home, she was clearly well cared for. After 3 days I started feeding her, I let her in and she jumped on my lap. She followed me to bed at night although months later I learned she hated being indoors at night!

She saved my life.

One day a man walked by my house with a woman, I was outside and he saw the Cat with me and said "HEY THATS MY CAT! I raised her from a kitten! he ran into my yard and picked her up calling her by a name I didn't remember that's why I just called her by what she said all the time Meow, she had a name seemed wrong to change it on her lol!

Anyway Meow scratched the guy and jumped out of his arms with hiss! he looked stunned. This Cat was never a grouch, she never scratched was really meek...He said well guess there is something she likes here, you can keep her. She was with me 18 years after that so she was very old.

That is a beautiful story!

Animals definitely visit us after they pass.
And they also will meet us when we pass onto the other side.
Especially ones we have bonded with in our souls.

This is quite common with cats. If you have a cat that is really close to you and it dies, there is a good chance that at some point it will return to you, to let you know it still lives on. Cats are well-known for doing that.

As strange as it may seem, I have always been very open to the possibilities, both of spirits and other things. But I learned something profound for me in this. When something like this happens to you It makes you realize you didn't fully believe other people or you could not be so stunned at what happened and the fact that you can't find a different explanation for it!

I am no ready to reread other's experiences and truly understand the depths of what they mean! I am humbled by this experience more then anything!

I think the Egyptians knew what they were talking about, when saying that cats are the guardians of the underworld.

Please don't feel guilty about not being able to get Meow to the vet. I had to have my cat, Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, euthanized last year, and I felt guilty about THAT! It's just tough to lose them, no matter what the circumstances. He also came for a visit not long after and walked around on my legs while I was in bed. So yes, I believe animals have souls—in many ways they are better than humans, so why shouldn't they deserve a heaven too?

Heart wrenching story Char, I KNOW little Meow did come to visit you. You are free. No more guilt, she loved you and it took her this long to come back because "you" were not ready to forgive yourself yet, she is your soul mate and this was as precious a meeting for her devoted heart too you know.

I am with you in spirit too, I also have such love for my pets who have walked ahead of me. Total empathy for you.

My condolences for your loss, Char-Lee, and my congratulations for your experience.

I had to euthanize my beloved female cat after many years together. While I was meditating a few weeks later, my male cat interrupted me, and for a few moments seemed to channel the energy/spirit of the female cat. For a brief few seconds I was sure she was visiting me through him and conveying wordlessly that she was okay and still loved me. Later my skeptical mind kicked in, of course, but the experience gave me some comfort nonetheless.

You may be interested in reading about psychics and animal communicators who claim to be able to contact the souls of living and departed animals. I hope and believe that humans have souls, so then logically more highly evolved creatures like dogs and cats would have them too.
