I think the government should cut everyone a single check for all that they have put into Social Security. Then quit the whole Social Security program.

Spend it, save it, do whatever you want with it.

The government has no right to coddle or determine or manage OUR money.

If you want to retire, then save, plan, invest.

But don't run to mama-government when you want money.

My 2 cents.

Exactly, this rant comes down to this guy, took out a huge loan to get a mediocre education, landing him a crappy job and now he see's X% coming out for SS and is upset that he isn't getting that %, possibly because he can't/or is having trouble, making ends meet.

Best reply was, the "Fine go ahead and Opt out, move to china" LMAO truth hurts.

Well them democrats said Everyone should have a house. Its an American right to own a house....as Barney Frank said, and we saw the housing bubble burst with so many poor loans that ...dare I say it...the people should never have been within 50 ft of owning a house....ever...never ever....

Now we have 99%ers saying WTH we did four years of college and have huge bills because of it....once again we have a large number of people who should have never have been within 50ft of a college...ever...never ever...

Just because a college offers some BS (bull#) degree and it cost 50k in loans doesn't mean it is worth the toilet paper it is printed on. This is the hard truth...after school life is full of hard truths.

Don't blame the rich..blame the schools for scamming you...

And haw can you employ more people if you raise the wages?

Minimum wage in Washington state is almost 10 bucks an hour...how much is the most unskilled crappy job in America really worth per hour?

For me back in the day my crappy jobs were incentive to get better ones...lol today why bother at 10 bucks an hour.

The problem is the young have been bamboozled into thinking some crappy degree is worth the paper it is printed on. Competition is the key here and if you're not competitive then get in line to work at burger king.

There is no game of fairness in the real world. No ribbon for just showing up, no second place in a job interview...

Greed is not everywhere,... ...I have no issues with helping those in need, I just see a different agenda when the Government says they want to help those in need.

Governments, businesses, organizations of all types and at every level can and will eventually succumb to the development of an eventual pathocracy within, an internal pathological politic of greed and power. People with little or extremely scarce conscience and empathy will work their way into the seats of power. While this is often good from a business point of view there then occurs a loss of its initial service objectives.

Altruistic idealism is an easy sell but often masks an insidious product that is meant only to be self-serving. Kind-hearted people will support and back a dangerous product if it is packaged in well-wishes.

"What manner of government are you founding?"

"A Pathocracy, Madame, if only it can be prevented."

Except for professional degrees and where certificates are required, a college education only assures your résumé looks better than someone's without it. It does not guarantee one a good job. Nor does the lack of education prevent one's success.

Competitiveness is often good. I believe competency is the most important ingredient though. Competency for an employee also includes their willingness to work, to show up with great regularity, on time, and to execute their duties in a professional manner even in a menial position. With those qualities a lack of education can be overcome. Without them there will be little advancement regardless of their educational background.

Education is good, but is not everything.

seems to me since you are the second party being robbed..

you should not be pissed off at the people robbed before you..

they already faithfully paid into the SS system...

congress made it a slush fund ponzi then emptied it out.

.having to "fix" it over 80 times..

now our money is being taken..

to pay theirs back..

fix the system. fix the problem.

all the money needed to fund this & anything else

is in the CAFR side of government booking keeping.

every city. every county. every state.

.how much is the most unskilled crappy job in America really worth per hour?

I guess if that crappy job requires a living person to do it, it would be around the cost of keeping that living person living broken down to per hour using a 40 or so hour workweek as a basis.....

otherwise, taxes are taken from you and me and used to keep those employees alive, so they can work that crappy job, don't they...and when those taxes aren't enough to support those social programs along with the wars, and that bailouts, and the pork barrel spending which in many cases is just one's politicians attempt to put money into the pocket of one of their buddies, and well....I could go on...
they raid the social security fund, or well, try to cut the benefits of it and give that money to the poor employee, so they can continue on working that crappy job......

and well, if a company does have a little money that they can use to increase the pay of their workers, they have a choice, they can give it to the low wage earners and it will increase their tax obligation (SS), or they can give it to their higher paid employees (they ones who are being paid over that ceiling and already have a portion of their pay exempt from the tax) and not increase that obligation!!! which would you chose?????

oh, and for those who want to blame the dems for the housing bust and didn't know this.....
several states were warning of the crash, they were looking for ways to prevent it at the state level...
it was the bush white house that told them that they were stepping on the feds toes by trying, and it was a fed problem to be solves...and then they did absolutely nothing about it!!!

heck a couple of days before the bottom dropped off, you had several fed officials standing in front of the american people proclaiming that the economy was "fundamentally sound"!!! Bush was one of them I believe...

And some or many idiots will take their money to las vegas and gamble it away, thus becoming bums SOMEONE ELSE needs to take care off. The whole purpose of social security is/was to ensure people have at least the bare minimum TO STAY OFF THE STREETS!

If the government thinks war profiteering is more important THEN we have a problem with the government and lunatics who think in conservative terms. YES the government HAS RESPONSIBILITY, just as much as the morons who vote with their ignorance.

I am sick and tired of big business, the banks, the military-industrial complex, big pharma DICTATING TERMS to government and the people. A government by the people and for the people should not be a dictatorship!

You kind of went sideways on a rant...How much should a employer pay a job that takes zero skill to do? How much is it the responsibility of a person to work and do better throughout life and not just demand better wages in the same old job that a non-high school grad could do easily?

seems to me that it would be a pretty short life if one were to actually have to live solely on what some of these low wage jobs paid.....

It's the wealthy people like Ron Paul who collect their social security and don't need it that contribute to the downfall of SSI. Illegal immigrants also receive SSI that shouldn't.

abcnews.go.com...

Even though he wants younger generations to transition away from Social Security, the Texas congressman and Republican presidential candidate says he receives checks.

“I do,” Paul acknowledged in an MSNBC interview on Wednesday. When The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein asked if Paul shouldn’t set an example by declining the government benefit, Paul said no.

www.factcheck.org...
some immigrants who are here without legal permission do end up receiving Social Security and other benefits, through bureaucratic mistakes or through deliberate fraud. The Government Accountability Office has even called this a "serious problem," though the GAO also says that "the full extent of benefit fraud is unknown."

There are people who NEED SSI, that's who it was designed for. There are abusers on all levels of public assistance. Like million dollar lottery winners collecting food stamps.......SHAMEFUL!

Do you realise how many people are working dead end jobs, WHO ARE OVER-QUALIFIED, because they have to in each recession and depression? You are making sweeping falsehoods probably cause you never had to work a hard job in your entire life.

Maybe you should go live in third world countries who implement that bull# to see how much of a plague on society that reasoning is. Disease spreads like crazy from people who cannot care for themselves, and i would rather not see bums sleeping in the subways. It is obnoxious!

Yes too much money is being spend on the war machine and not enough domestically where it is really needed. Even ron paul says this much and he is not the only one. Just goes to show you can be conservative and still have some common sense in you. Apparently you lack it!

Not only is it big, but more importantly it is a bourgeois dictatorship. Maybe you should read some marxist literature to get a clue where the left comes from, rather than just repeat right wing media catchpoints.

Whats the Socialist Party thing . Are you a socialist ? You don't like owning private property , cars and living where you want or doing what you want ? You want to be Communist ? That is the end result of Socialism in reality. I guess you agree with Agenda 21 /Sustainable development .

A socialist democracy is the exact opposite of a capitalist or communist dictatorship. Of course you can own personal property and even be a business person as long as it does not interfere with critical infrastructure and society's general needs.

I disagree with agenda 21 and sustainable development because they are capitalist oreintated schemes to defraud and unsettle billions of people who deserve dignity, a job and personal property throughout the world. I have no idea where you are getting your information from because the bilderbergers speak for themselves with their actions.

Well, thank god for people like david icke and alex jones. They do more than everyone else combined!

You see I don't have a problem with a gary johnson or ron paul because they are conservatives with a brain. It is people like mitt romney, rick santorum, newt gingrich, bill oreilly, hillary clinton, barrack obama who are war mongers that annoy me.

In any case I believe in a mixed-economy where workers have at least an equal voice to the multi-national corporations who today answer to know one...and I did forget the masonic bankers? Gee, how could I?
