Greetings from an ATS lurker,

My name is Muatti and i have been born on may in the early 90's. I'm currently a student in college and am interested in Philosophy,Neurology and Psychobiology and anything mysterious. I have specific interest in the Unidentified Flying Object Phenomena and anything paranormal you can name. my gender is male.
I am a curious person by nature and have, as some may call it, lurked among these forums for a while now and finally decided it was time to make an account to join some of the incredibly interesting discussions.

I am not born on english/american soil, so please excuse any grammar mistakes I present to you. I will do my best to proofread every single post.

When im not busy working or going to school i love to dig deep within myself and ask myself all the difficult philosophical questions a man can ask.

so tonight i stumbled upon a dilemma, which was:

what would you choose when you're ''abducted'' by extraterrestrials and get presented with 2 choices:

- you go with the E.Ts, to their (Advanced) planet, where you have to start living their life.

- you go back to your planet, but due to the distance youve already traveled, about 70 years will have past on earth.(given that the spaceship flies vast distances in short time)

Now take in mind these rules: No one knows where you went on earth, if you choose option 1, your family and anyone else for that matter will never know what happened to you. if you choose option 2, you have no idea whether or not your family is still alive, what happened in 70 years on the world and/or if it still exists.

Personally i got stuck on a dilemma. To elaborate: if i chose option 1, i would abandon my family whom i love, they would be in despair for their whole lifes. if i chose option 2, however, i would have to have some luck that some of my family is still alive so i can tell my story, if they are all gone, i would have nothing to come back to anyway, which means i literally wasted 70 years.

What would you choose?

(inb4 i have no family)

Choice one; only because the purpose of life is mankind's transmutation from darkness to light. Interacting with extra terrestrial and/or extra dimensional beings will indefinitely raise one's level of consciousness cosmically.

Good question. Some say the earth is advanced and yet we still have a part of the population that still live in mud huts. So who's to say the alien world doesn't have rich and poor.

Personally I'd go to their homeworld.

Welcome to ATS! Very interesting question you pose. I would choose to come back to earth though. If you lived on their planet, you would essentially be alone, perhaps even the subject of more experiments. At least if you come back to earth, you can reconnect with different generations of your family, and possibly get on with your life.

Welcome to ATS Muatti!
You have great grammar, no errors stood out to me!
Your question also had me stuck, and I'm still debating to be honest! But if I had to chose, I would choose to live with the ETs!! And now after writing that I literally wondered to myself 'why wouldn't I come home?' and almost changed my mind! So that is a hard one!!
There are Pros and Cons to both I suppose..
Anyways, Welcome to ATS!!
If your last sentence meant you have no family, now you have an ATS family! Enjoy

I'd go with them.
Because if 70 years had past, most of my family and friends would have died so either way they'd have wondered what had happened to me all their lives.

Welcome to ATS. Your English is very good, don't worry about it.

I'm the Alien that will abduct you...let me know your choice. Oh, you forgot choice #3. Do you want to be boiled or broiled for dinner....

i can relate to that, but how do you feel about your family?

Personally, i grew up being pretty close with them. i wouldnt want them to worry about me.
and having yourself disappear from the earth, it wouldnt be much of a closure for them, giving them a gap in their lifes.

i have seen some trolls come by and i simply stated that it would be irrelevant to post ''i have no family'' to oppose my question.

im not sure if people are common with it, but usually i use ''inb4'' as ''in before certain joke is made''

Thanks to all the welcomes
appreciate it!

PS.
i like your signature. it reminds me of another signature.

Interesting dilemma you have brought forth. Honestly the family/friends situation is a mute point as the damage is done regardless of your feelings on it. As sad as it may be they are long gone and can not be changed. This leaves the choice of returning as a time traveler from the past or greatly advancing your personal experiences within your life.

If you chose to return you would be faced with a second decision. To tell or not to tell. If you tell, assuming that time travel has not been discovered by mankind, you would be arrested and held for questioning and or scientific research or found a "nut" and incarcerated either in a detention center or an sanitarium of some sort. The best you could hope for is that they come to believe you and they put you with a historical center to give your expertise on the historical past. If you choose not to tell you would have to remain "under the radar" and attempt to catch up on the changes without drawing attention to yourself in order to avoid the above scenario if it is even possible to do depending on the changes that have occurred. All of this is assuming that by the time you return mankind has not decimated the planet and it is even capable of sustaining life as you know it.

If you choose to go to their planet and experience life in their neck of the woods you would be taking the chance that they are not collecting you as a willing participant to slavery, scientific research, etc. It really comes down to how much trust you have in their portrayed "good will".

As for myself, knowing that all of what I previously knew was gone and buried(even if the mentality of man had not changed the people I knew would be gone and technology would be vastly different, ie either extremely advanced to what I am accustomed to or non existent to the same), I would choose to go to the "alien" planet and take my chances. I have experienced mankind and the adventurous person I am would wish to experience that life as well.

Edit to add: Welcome to the Family I look forward to your future posts.

Your English is better than mine and I'm English

I'd go.
Whats the point of coming back if 70 years have past?

Why did you choose 70 years?

This is a response i was waiting for. Thoroughly thought out and every option explained. And i would agree with the option of experiencing a new life. This should also be the essence of the question i asked; are you willing to be born anew, only to give up on civilization.

My answer would, after your post, be: yes.

My mind is full of dilemmas, so you'll see me scout the philosophical forums regularly. Looking forward to everyone's great insight!

I wanted to bring up the morale of abandoning part of your family, 50 years would suffice as well, but 70 just popped in my head ^^. The point of it is explained in earlier posts; would you, if civilization did not advance at all, tell or not tell about your story? Would you want to meet a whole new generation of your family? Will they be happy their long lost grandpa finally returned? Since the spaceship travels fast, you will not age in this timespan, although earth will lose 70 years. Will they believe you are the one who vanished? I could go on all night, but i feel like ive fed you enough questions

Thank you for your kind words, the days of watching english movies and games have taught me well.

Feel free to edit yours so it matches mine. In fact, everyone should have this quote

I would need more details before deciding such as the condition of each planet, the lifestyles, foods, people etc. I mean I wouldn't want to live on a planet where they ate worms or something. LOL I wouldn't want to be the only human being on the entire planet unless the beings were human-like. There would be many questions that would need to be answered.

In any case, Hello and welcome!!

Since you gave me permission

I absolutely loathe how times change and translate quotes for convenience, yours is just way more beautifully said, therefore I thank you for letting me copy it without calling me a copy-cat.

Also, that is a great point Agartha made. When considering your question the first time I ran that through my head, I thought 'would you be called/considered a nut if you came back and claimed to be a time traveler?' and all the other points she made are great to consider if we were in that situation. Very well thought through.

Ahaa! Even though you are right in its entirety, its the trick of philosophy to leave those unanswered, as the moral values come into place first.

If i were to present you with an ice cream alien world, your ego will take over and make the easy decision. Thats what im trying to prevent. although, the curious ones in our midst most likely choose option 1.

Lets say you have no knowledge of both worlds' their condition and the E.Ts are Greys.
You dont know what they will do with you on their planet, nor do you know what earth will do to you.
