Explanation: Uhmmm?

The idea that 2 different moderators had to get butt hurt over it is laughable and an embarrassment.

If this was a joke, then why wasn't it placed in the Jokes forum in offtopics?

If this is serious, then why would a so called forum expert need to ask for help in finding how to make an alert?

Ahhhh seems the OP didn't make an intro thread and therefor missed all the important information that would have been posted to them by a helpful moderator

That's sad and not the ATS way. Maybe just a slow week. Does this help? Late but well meant.

In response to the OP, as he surely knows, forums are about the simplest implementation of coding there is on the web, and many, many programs that "create" sites for you are capable of building a template site near identical to this one. CoffeeCup builder is free and can build forums from scratch with a few variable inputs.

All in all, OP, you're grasping at straws that probably aren't there.

geez, intrepid...you're a pushover for a crying lady with a tub of ice cream...but, i guess some empathy on your part is a good thing.

I learned new stuff in this thread so for that OP here is a star. However I also think the easiest job in the world is that of a critic so I will just express my appreciation that we have a place to argue, enlighten, inquire, poke, prod, joke, challenge, and have cyber fellowship with each other.
I think the programmer types are modern day alchemists of a sort and have much respect. My analogy is that I have no idea how a 747 works but I still get on it and enjoy where it takes me.

The sheer size of this site means there has to be customisation in order that it runs.

Of course, its easier to try and make crap up than think about practicalities...

Regardless, the OP did say it was a bit of hokem. And, regardless of that, the site is not running for me, I said so, twice, in the thread requesting feedback on the new look, opened by sceptic overlord, and it was totally ignored. He even posted more about further progress right under my last post in that thread. So I'm telling you now, feel free to ignore it, I'm not that bothered anymore.
