Ok, as for that helicorder thing, already checked it out, it is mechanical.

As for that police jury meeting to request deceleration of Federal Disaster, well the police jury things DNR, TB, and local officials are doing a swell job. It was voted down unanimously.

Glad your on it Cajun! What we need is Web Cams around the Sink Hole! Who would we petition for that?

Morning All! CB, once again thanks for being our eyes. Now during this mornings search, another site had this link. I didn't know that the latest sinkhole burp actually threw stuff in the air! Usually stuff just floats up. This latest had some power behind it. Or is this just hype?

When the sink hole burped, it sent crude oil and debris into the air. The director of the Assumption Parish Homeland Security said instead of more drilling and clean up, they're going to do more scientific testing.

Of course it is not finished growing! I don't think this thing will ever stop. I see this sinkhole growing for the next decade at a slow pace. I'm losing faith in all officials in Louisiana now....

Of course they did. If they went thumbs up, it would mean they have to admit there is something seriously wrong and that a major threat to the public exists. They'll hold off on that until a major event happens they can no longer deny. Let's just hope that isn't too late for a lot of folks!

First we had kudzu, the vine that ate the south; now we are getting the sinkhole that ate Louisiana.

Now the question is becoming, "just how long will it take for the whole salt dome to fail and will the parties involved be able to remove dangerous materials stored in the caverns before it happens"?????

My money is on the companies that have dangerous material in the caverns stalling until they simply run out of time and then there will be a real disaster.

Thanks for posting. It looks to me like they are building this new access road on the other side of the sinkhole. Am I seeing that correctly? In the last second it looks like the old pad across the sinkhole.

Yes it is the opposite side. This seems odd to me as that is the side where most of the collapse has occured?

Today, Friday, there has been a 4.1 earthquake reported at usgs that occurred in NE Texas, Timpson area. RSOE-Edis claims a 4.5. Anyhow, I have been concerned that Louisiana may have a "shaker" soon too as the state has so many oil/gas wells peppered throughout and so much blasting/fracking and such, it would be hard to believe the earth and under ground hasn't been weakened/compromised.. A regular "cookie cutter" motif around here...like swiss cheese.

I've always wondered how much the Gulf of Mexico oil explosion and fiasco may have caused instability to the ocean floor thus possibly having an affect on the low lying lands of Louisiana too. If we get a decent sized shaker here, one has to wonder about all the various scenarios that can play out relevant to the sinkhole at Bayou Corne and the one in Shreveport that occurred here a few weeks ago. I'm expecting more sinkholes to present themselves in this state...it is the "swiss cheese state" anymore...wells, holes everywhere, and weakened land. The earth has been ravaged here and in Texas and in many other states as well. The world over really....the fracking process is taking over in many areas in a big way. I wonder how much more mother earth can take.

There is even talk of drilling in the location of Yellowstone volcanoe. That just out right sounds creepy and foolish.

I also heard that these salt domes are all connected and unfortunately, I live in a state where a salt dome is connected to the ones all along the Gulf Coast. Have you guys seen the "Navy" new map of the US, where Louisiana is completely underwater and so is most of Florida and there is a new coastline going straight up through the New Madrid fault line, practically dividing the US in half?

Yesterday, I heard that it could grow to the size of 30 football fields. I also heard that ,as of yesterday, 11 new bubbling sites have appeared.

Yeah, I knew when I first saw the location of the new pad that it was a bad idea - and pretty stupid place to put it!

Few things, yes that is an access road that they are building. It has been causing havoc on the helicorders.

Secondly, fracking does not happen in south Louisiana. It happens more in north LA. The ground is soft, not requiring fracking to extract oil.

The new pad and road is being built to drill more vent wells mandated by DNR

I am also glad I see the flags still coming in! Slowly though. A month ago we were around 60 flags on this thread
