The answer to the question....

314 mil in the US..
143 or so on welfare/SSI..
149 or so mill working...
49% of those 149 mill make under 25g a yr..
(You can find these statistics on ATS.. there is 4 different posts or something pertaining to this...)

The reason people are going on foodstamps is because they cant afford to feed themselves with the money they make..

Take myself for example.. I make 7.75 an hr work basically 40 hrs a week... I make 310 a week after taxes I take home 248 bucks.. so actually i make about 13g after taxes a yr.. and guess what.. I do collect foodstamps...

What can he do to revitalize his campaign?

WOW! The economy is improving.

We must all realize now that only Obama can lead us to the path of prosperity.

AP News

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- President Barack Obama says an encouraging jobs report shows that the country has made too much progress to turn back to the policies that he says led the nation into an economic crisis.

Obama got much-needed good news Friday following his disappointing debate performance as the unemployment rate dropped to 7.8 percent. That's the lowest it's been since he took office in 2009.

Timing of this seems too convenient. Even setting aside the fact that all these number are complete B.S.

Romney up in swing states and he's getting a post convention bounce.

If the unemployment rate was over 8% the race was over.

Of course they cooked the books. Romney talked directly to 67 million Americans debate night and the media couldn't protect Obama from his record.

With those figures, you should get assistance.

I get a high 5 figure salary, and I am hurting. I don't have much and I don't 'live rich'.

I was replying to the guy who asked why foodstamp claims were going up.. I was using myself as an example... Thats all Most people who work in the states either work part time or have to live with someone else because they cant afford to live on their own.. because as I stated above I make 13g after taxes which really amounts to crap if you think about it..

It actually pissed me off when i calculated that.. I didn't think i was getting raped that bad.. But i do know 1/3rd of my pay goes for taxes.... oh well..

The increase in food prices counts big in the equation.

But you are right, there is no reason that you should be paying that amount of taxes. If you figure in the taxes you have after your paycheck (look at the bottom of your bills, phone, electric, etc.), you are getting raped worse than you imagined.

If that number is accurate and the loweest since 2009 then that means Bush was not that bad.

Right?

Everyone is all happy that 4 years later that the unemployment number where right back where he started from?

Seriously?

Hahahaaa Hilarious.

LOL! As posted in your link...

“However, today's jobs report is confusing to say the least. Previous months numbers have been revised and yet the workforce participation rate remains at a 30 year low. The unemployment rate drops to 7.8 percent, that is where it was in January 2009 when the President took office. But the U6 computation of unemployed, underemployed, and discouraged Americans remains the same at 14.7 percent. Trust the Obama administration? Sure, and the spontaneous reaction to a video caused the death of our Ambassador….and pigs fly.”

Certainly good news, but considering the people that have stopped looking for work and are now suckling on Uncle Sam's teet, only underscores what Romney said about he 47%.
But more importantly it only proves things get better when Obama is busy doing other things,
...like campaigning.

The truth is, it really is a Planet of Obama Nation

So the Obama administration says unemployment at 7.8%

Okay.

In other news;
the Obama administration readjusted the debt to Seven dollars and 43 cents.
Room temperature is now 4,000 degrees Celcius
A miss IS as good as a mile.
A measured yard is now the distance from Obama's knee to his ankle.
And
"Close" now only counts in horseshoes, handgrenades, sex and fiscal debt reduction.

I wish people weren't so ignorant. They believe everything on TV. LOL.

There are several "key" points you alluded to:

1) the workforce participation rate remains at a 30 year low

2) But the U6 computation of unemployed, underemployed, and discouraged Americans remains the same at 14.7 percent

And of course, we know pigs will never fly. LOL

What in the hell is wrong with Obama?

Less than two months ago he said that we had gained 4.5 million jobs, at the debate on Wednesday night he said 5.0 million jobs, and now today he's saying 5.2 million jobs after the jobs report came out??!! His numbers add up faster than BLS's.

Since I don't trust the BLS, I've kept my own spreadsheet of the numbers. I'll even cut Barry some slack by excluding any numbers from 2009.

Here are the real numbers as of today:

Number of jobs gained since January 2010: 3.49 million

Number of jobs lost since January 2010: 4.52 million

Once again, I'll remind everyone that I pulled all of this data off of BLS reports, revisions and all. Unfortunately, Obama only looks at the revisions if they move up, not down.

Obama:

“Today I believe that as a nation we are moving forward again,” he said. “After losing about 800,000 jobs a month when I took office, our businesses have added 5.2 million new jobs over the past 2 1/2 years.

This is an election year ploy, pure and simple.
Anyone that says unemployment is less than 22% is lying.

You know, I don't believe for a minute that it's in the single digits, but 22%...seriously? Maybe I just don't see it in my state. Texas seems to be doing pretty well. I'm not saying that figure must be off, but that is more than 1 in 5 people. I would think there would be more people protesting and what not if it were that high.

It requires 150k jobs a month just to keep up with people entering the job force. Anything under that is a negative. They played with the numbers for the election. I think 90% of Americans know the real number is over twice what the government claims it is. I suppose they could have authorized 300k or so for welfare just to get them off the unemployed books. More likely they just took people that quit looking off the books.
