For me, it was just another "group of people go to a remote place and get killed off one at a time" movie.
Yes, there was occasional grandeous talk of the "biggest questions humans can ask" and references to how aliens made us / are us, or whatever but for me it wasnt convincing or meaningful (*) and much too vague and wanky.
