Believers in after life, do you really think reincarnation takes place, why or why not?

Sorry for posting again but when I try to edit, it asks me to give a reason and when I do there is no other button to continue so this is how I got to do it. I wanted to add

"But in my opinion, I think that it's something more than that our human minds can think of. It wouldn't be necessary to have the pleasures of sex, food, and all of that. That it'd be something more. Who knows though! I just want to be happy and spend it with people I like. "

To make a point, how would YOU accept reincarnation?
No one can tell you right?
You have to know for yourself.
You could read all kinds of crazy philosophies and religious texts about things like this but it is not the same as experiencing it from this lifetime, the only way to know for sure is to experience it for yourself. At least that is how I see it, and how I see almost ANYTHING spiritual, if I cannot experience it, then it is not for me and is not a part of my reality.
Well, I asked, and I got an answer. That was good enough for me

Well if I said I was a reincarnate, most people wouldn't believe it and thus, I might not help them find their answer...so it's better if they realize their own origins for themselves. I will offer an alternative point of view and you can take it or leave it...

I would suggested that if you are one of the people that has had huge mental changes take place since 2010 and particularly since last spring you might be one of the reincarnates that have woken up. If you seek to understand these things to the bottom of your heart, it's even more likely you are one of the ones you are searching for...your answers are within you.

I would also suggest that those that die with a heart light as a feather are capable of being lifted up. They(or rather their ethereal field) then floats upon the rivers of time and space to settle again at a place where they are needed...where they can do what they are meant to do...

The aliens/immortals that interest many of you so much may actually be you...but you come from above and are born into a world without memory of your past...but you 'always' retain "that feeling" inside that draws you to search for your own origins.Doesn't matter what others say...it is a knowing that you have never been taught...genetic memory if you will. Sorry no spaceships to this story
...no material crutches needed for some beings

This same feeling makes you want to make a change in the world you are born into...to make it like you know it should be. The others that tell you otherwise have not grown enough to take flight...they are scared of what they do not understand and have not known "yet" they can choose to learn.

You may be here to teach them. Likewise, I would suggest to you that I am here to do. It would take too long to prove it to you like this...so you can dismiss this post as nonsense if you like
..but if this tickles your heart...

We are all cocoons...the body is a vessel...but the feeling inside can be made immortal...

Peace...

As above so below. We are not all born out of this world...besides how often do you see things fall up...

As a right leaning agnostic I must ask these questions, I feel compelled to, to see if anyone at all out there has the answers for somebody whose 'logic' gets in the way of belief.

I don't wish to pick on those who believe these things, I am challenging you people to convince me and other agnostics/atheists that believing is logical.

As far as meditation goes, what told you reincarnation is true, something outside your head, or a thought in your own head.

I literally relived my last two hours up until death.
This was a dream state, much like dreaming, only it was a memory.

If I told you that your head is akin to an eye...it just feels things out like every other sensory organ would you understand better where all ideas come from? From the blackness...

Edit...You aren't picking on anyone but yourself

How do you know it was a memory of your past life?
How do you know that without a doubt?

Maybe, I would say, what a vision, what a dream, whereas someone else would say, that was my past life.

However, I can't prove nor you can prove anything.

prove to me that a magnetic field exists without a manifestation of its force metal shavings or electrical current etc...yet it is a fact, is it not?

Your ocular eyes do not see the highest frequencies...learn to feel. Meditation allows you to become more sensitive and see/feel other things you may have been blind to before

Our understanding of physics and spirituality are evolving quickly. I don't know either way about reincarnation and souls. I am leaning towards yes there is something else to do with our energy signatures and our mind capabilities.

I don't know how anyone can confidently deny anything in this day and age with the way physics and our understanding are evolving and changing. We really know so little.

People can label it as they wish, accepting it for themselves or ignoring it all together. I asked for an answer from the creator, and I got it. It is a personal revelation for me. How do I know it was real? Because I just knew. Deep down inside my soul, I knew it was an answer to my question, an exact answer. It left no doubt, which pretty much wipes away any sort of denile of my own experience to myself. That's about the best I can explain it, if you are asking me if I went and checked what I learned in that experience, no, I did not.
I was ok with the answer and needed no more proof. In the bigger picture of things, it doesn't matter to me. I don't make decisions based on reincarnation, I don't worry about karma and I just enjoy the ride I am on.

I think you may be assuming that all past life recollection and memory are like dime store psychics selling readings to the passing public. Vague.....hard to interpret....and generally impossible to narrow down.

I'd throw out for a thought to consider, the above isn't always the case. Some are so clear they can be verified for time, place or event later using old news reports or maps and photo archives for a time/place. I think the people who live with those memories and the awareness it brings rarely talk much about it and for what ought to be obvious reasons....but assuming that level of clarity and certainty doesn't exist for some would be a mistake, IMO.

Why am I confused about reincarnation? Well, I read up on reincarnation and hear that we go through many life times (if we choose) until you reach enlightenment. BUT after you've reached enlightenment then where do you go? Do you forget all the ones you love in the past?

Reincarnation is the natural procession that follows the wheel of the year and of life. Everything in nature reincarnates. The pagan Holly King and Oak King with the Triple Goddess actually illustrates this beautifully, serving as a great metaphor for the seasons. Earth's bounty impregnates the Earth, then it dies, then the Earth gives birth to the last bounty, the new bounty grows old and impregnates the Earth again, and then it all repeats itself.

This is why it's difficult to not believe in reincarnation. Anything else is simply detracting from the flow of nature.

As far as attaining "enlightenment", I don't think it's ever over. On the bright side, I believe it's up to you when and if you pop that next quarter in the machine and hit the "player one" button.

Also, with reincarnation, I believe there are so many other planets with life out there besides earth. What makes people so sure it's just earth that we reincarnate into a human?

We are not sure of that. Past life regression therapy seems to virtually always result in a human Earth-based life story but that could just be a universal law. There are cases of people recalling out-of-this-world life times but they are still bipedal humanoid type folks. I actually have a connection with somebody like this.

Personally, though, I think the reason people don't recall being a gelatinous puddle of slime on a gas planet full of rainbows made of acid is because our brains simply can't relate or empathize with it. It would be like trying to recall seeing an extra dimension or a new color or a number that doesn't currently exist. We just can't wrap our heads around it.

I hate the thought of reincarnation honestly. I hate the thought of starting all over again, not remembering anything, and the possible idea of my husband turning into my brother in the next life LOL since some people believe those you love cycle within you.

Yep. Many people have soul agreements and pacts with each other that can carry on for millenniums. It's not a creepy concept once you get used to it. I don't think it is usual for you to give birth to somebody you knew that died or anything like that, though. It's a bit more spaced out than that but I do definitely believe that we stick with the same basic cast of characters for looooooong stretches of time and we all play different roles to help each other learn.

well that`s what i`m saying though, if you believe there is nothing and no afterlife then for you there won`t be one. people who believe in reincarnation will be reincarnated.people who believe in an eternity in heaven with their loved ones will be with their loved ones in a heaven for eternity.
since it`s not a physical place then your loved ones won`t have to physically be there with you, they can be off somewhere else "living" their version of the afterlife while at the same time you still see them and feel them with you in your afterlife heaven.

it seems that if there was a defined set of limitations on the afterlife that everyone had to conform to then what would happen in a situation like this:

You really dislike one of your uncles, can`t stand to be around him but your sister thinks he`s awesome.in the afterlife you want to be with your sister but she won`t be happy because you hate her favorite uncle so he can`t be with you two. if he is with you two then you won`t be happy.

in an afterlife where everyone creates their own version of afterlife your sister will be in your created version but your uncle won`t and you`ll be happy. in her created version both you and the uncle will be there and she will be happy.

In fact the only way that an afterlife could meet the criteria of religious beliefs that the afterlife will be full of happiness and without any pain or sorrow is if everyone creates their own version of an afterlife,a personal version that makes them happy.

Yeah, I am hard on myself, as I slip ever further into skepticville, you folks may do the same thing in time as things you find don't add up, especially in the 'prove it department', and the 'why does that make any sense department' however strange things have happened to me, and I have done stints with meditation that led me a few times to an OOBE, and a head expansion (weird).
I've seen/heard ghosts, but that stuff hints at certain things, but it definitely does not explain what happens after we die or come to life.
Just tells me weird stuff happens.

Yep, weird stuff happens.

I like that answer a lot.
That is a beginning to even greater realizations over time, at least you are open to these ideas, you question them with legitimate intent. I hope you do find proof that you will accept for anything you look into, for or against.

Wasn't there a thread up just a day or so ago about reincarnation, or did I jump into the future then?

Have you considered having a past-life regression done? You will only KNOW it is real when you experience it for yourself. No one can tell you it is real, or not.

Anyway..... here is what I posted on that thread a couple of days ago.
I did a thread on reincarnation when I first joined ATS.
This WAS my beliefs at that time. I haven't changed my opinion in believing it to be real, but I have learned more about it since then from reading more information on the subject.

I don't believe in reincarnation.

The Bible states that on Judgment Day that our souls will be reunited with our bodies. If there was reincarnation, which body would our soul be united with?

Life isn't about "Try and try again until you get it right." Life is about playing the cards you're dealt with in this 1 life and making the most out of it all --not "Ok, this life sucks, bring on the next one!"

Reincarnation teaches people not to handle this life seriously. It says don't worry about it, there will be a next time if you mess up this time! Reincarnation also promotes suicide.

Jesus taught reincarnation in the bible. They were removed by Emperor Constantine when he chose which books to use in the one religion bible to be used by the masses so a religious war wouldn't break out over different teachings.
And you are spot on with some of your post. Reincarnation did make the people think they shouldn't take this life seriously because they could come back for a redo. That's another reason he removed the books. And...... it would take away the Church's CONTROL over the masses.
I have Bible verses in the thread I posted to back this up. I have also come across more since then.
I don't have time to post them now, and I'm not going to get into a religious debate about it.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but if you want to learn the truth, dig a little deeper.
Peace.
