it doesn't look like it was taken thru glass.

Look at the original pic in the OP , ghosts wouldn't be hovering above the ones on the ground, they would follow the paths they took. try holding a picture of what you want to appear behind glass, shoot a picture keeping that picture behind the glass but also behind the camera creating a reflection in the image to the foreground of the jungle / forrest setting, works well at night too.

If you actually read the article it states that the picture was taken through the window of a 4x4 and the image is a reflection of a stripey towel that was on the vehicles dashboard
