Russian news sources Pravda and NTV reporting on an alleged effort by NASA to find Nibiru:

(Pravda, 09/24/2012): NASA scientists plan to launch a telescope into space in an attempt to find the mysterious killer planet Nibiru. Supposedly, the planet may considerably change life on Earth in near future, reports NTV. [...]
(NTV is a Russian television channel).

The Pravda article is very odd even if it is intended to be tongue-in-cheek.

It reminded me of this article from Fox News a while back describing how a large object might be able to fly through a solar system with little advance notice:

'Runaway planets' hurled from galaxies at 30 million mph

So if Planet X didn't exist, then why is NASA looking for it? A question for all those non-believers on ATS.

Who is NTV, the supposed 'something' that has been reporting this info?

I can't find a single news outlet called NTV who have reported this specific info.

I'd say it's a hoax.

Did you guys read the article? It's bait and switch.. They got you to click didn't they? Only the title and maybe the first 1-2 paragraphs are about nibiru being real, and then the rest is talking about how crazy stupid the idea of nibiru is and how it was started by the zetatalk women who they bathe in a "crazy" person light, and go on to say we would know if there was a nibiru here, so there is not one...

Well who says they are looking for it? Some folks in Russia?? Given that there are lot's of asteroids and other debris that might cross the path of the Earth I think it's safe to say that we should be on the look out for anything dangerous. We're much more likely to get hit with an asteroid or comet, which we KNOW are out there, than we are to get hit by a hypothetical rogue planet for which there is no solid evidence.

It's unknown at this point how much of this is Pravda and how much is NTV. Is this Pravda commenting on the craziness of the NTV report, or did the NTV report say much the same? As far as "bait and switch", the article style reminds me of other news controversies. For instance, liberal news outlets used this approach for some birther articles. They knew it was news, but wanted to convince everyone of how silly the notion is that there may be some questions as to the president's past, and so the news reports would proceed in a similar fashion.

Our governments waste trillions on waging shock and awe wars against each other (probably because of politics and it gives the military-industrial-congressional complexes profits) while they only give lip service to predicting or protecting us from catastrophic events that will change or eliminate all life as we know it.

Pravda is fairly well known for it's slanted embroidery and penchant for publishing outright fantasy based on extremely speculative and flimsy 'sources'.

Anything from Pravda should be taken with as much salt as one would take in reading the National Enquirer or any other sensationalist tabloid.

Then again, Bat Boy might just be out there.
