I love the soundtrack for Jane Champion's, "The Piano". I also love the soundtrack to Ang Lee's, "Sense and Sensibility".

I don't know if these are your songs you require but here they are..

Best music in a film - meaning soundtrack?

ANY James Bond movie pre-1976. This means JOHN BARRY

Also - Alien has a pretty damned sweet soundtrack

All of the music from Memoirs of a Geisha, but this one in particular was always my favorite. It is by John Williams.

And the scene in the remake of Pride and Prejudice where Lizzy is standing on the cliffside and the music wells up behind her as the wind blows her gown... gorgeous stuff! This is by Dario Marinelli.

In both of these films I remember thinking that the music was like an un-named character that we never got to see but got to hear.

This song blew me away and still does just listen.
It is taken from a film called broken glass.

Gotta love music when it's played like this.

Nice to see a familiar name. Thanks.

Back on thread topic...
I don't normally pay much attention to movie soundtracks these days...but yet again.."Drive" had me hooked. To me, the music is almost hypnotic.

Have to agree... The movie and the soundtrack were amazing.
The soundtrack, as you say, was hypnotic.... it stood out so much but was a part of the film subtly too.

Fantastic
