It's his money.

If he finds legal ways of KEEPING HIS MONEY then more power to him.

More class warfare tripe!

But please, everyone carry on and bash someone for having more money than you.

Either you completely missed the point or you are willfully ignoring the facts the man is lying to America.

If you read the posts you would know my argument is about how he is lying to the nation and voters and how he is hiding that he doesn’t even pay the 14% he claims but of course you and others will try to make this about class warfare.

Never mind that Romney is the biggest proponent of class warfare by wanting to implement means testing for social security but go ahead and stick your head in the sand.

Oh the irony.

He's not doing a good job of fooling folks though. He entered a perfect storm and his own ineptitude has made it worse. Other than the small core of close-minded tea party crowd, the rest of America knows the Right owns most of why things are bad now. We all know who the obstructionists are in spite of their attempts to manipulate us by playing innocent. We all know none of the Right can be taken seriously as budget hawks because we all saw them lay waste to a surplus by following in lockstep time and time again as Bush busted the budget with unpaid wars (plural), tax cuts, Medicare Part D, etc. only to find their deficit hawk religion again the literal second Obama was sworn in. We are not blind, nor stupid.

The rational among us, which are most Americans, have all watched in horror as elected officials on the Right have said literally insane things over and over again. We all watched them spend millions upon millions in pointless symbolic votes to end "Obamacare" or promote the most extreme pro-life positions. We all watched as they said, "Elect us in 2010 and we'll bring jobs!" only to see them continue to waste time and money on symbolic crap while obstructing real job efforts. We even just last week saw them give unemployed veterans the shaft, claiming there is no money even though the bill was paid for by other cuts. We are not blind, nor stupid.

Combine all that with the slimiest, robber baron, richy rich robotic pander master candidate ever put forth by any party in memory and you are left with the impending disaster for the GOP all the polls point to, including the new Gallup poll today that has Obama up 6+ over Romney nationally.

It could not happen to a "nicer" party. I'd like to think this will force the GOP to move back towards real governance and sanity, but I suspect the crazies will only get louder and claim if only a real conservative would have run, then they'd have won easily. Of course that the opposite of reality, but the Right does live in such a universe where up is down.

My vote in 2012 is not pro-Obama. Here on out, my vote is for sanity vs. crazy, science vs. magic, humanity vs. theocracy.

To be fair, I actually do think that wanting to be a politician makes you a little suspect.

But it's the system that needs to change. The first thing a politician has to do as soon as they take office is raise funds for their next campaign. While this is the case they are going to take more notice of whomever gave them a few thousand dollars than they are of whomever gave them one vote.

Occupy much?

Occupy ATS? Isn't that what we are all doing?

To be honest? I could care less about how much he paid. We aren't talking about policy, these types of threads are character assassination. It feeds the class warfare meme, and ignores the identical malfeasence going on with that other political party.

An excellent point.

Has anybody asked him if he supported Prop 8?

Didn't their elders go through the congregations pay stubs and bang on doors demanding they pay more money towards it?

I will offer this caveat, I think we should stop all payments to politicians, all benefits, all medical/dental perks.

To be a public servant should be an honour, not a way to buy that island after a term or two.

Not a republican. I just care about policy. What someone HAS doesn't affect me.

What someone VOTES on, does.

Class warfare?

Consdering the sheer amount of fraud rampant in the SS system so funds going to people who should not be receiving it is "class warfare".

That is not "class warfare" that is called being responsible for the money we all pay.

It should be under the VERY DEFINITION OF CLASS WARFARE.

There is a study out that even shows that they will begin cuting people off from their own money at 20K.

Social Security is somthing you pay into all your life it is NOT a handout.

The only reason social security is in trouble is because politicians have been raiding it to fund pork barrel projects.

So it's their own money when it comes to social security, but it's the governments money when it comes to taxes?

Please explain the distinction.

GIVE ME A BREAK! Romney is certainly no saint but OBAMA...oh my, that Coke Smoking-Bi Sexual-Liar Cheat and Traitor makes choosing Romney a clear case of choosing the lesser of two evils and at least there is some hope of avoiding a Class War..a war between those of us who earn what we have and those who do not or if you like, a War between the Federalists and the Americans.

I could care less about Romney's tax returns. I care more about the damage Obama has done to the country in foreign relations and the damage to the economy that he has done. I will vote for Romney this time thankyou.

Yeah a Person only pays 6% then their employer matches that at another 6% pay in to that for 40 years and then hopefully a person collects around 10.

They are not living high on the hog there, and then of course there are people who have never worked a day in their lives and collect it.

It is not class warfare the reason that SS is screwed(and yes it has been raided) is the fact more people are taking out than they are paying in.

Look up:

Fleming v. Nestor, and Helvering v. Davis that should be an eye opener,.

Paying under 14% when you are making 20 million dollars and paying upwards of 30% when you make 200 thaousand.

Is that clear enough?

Has anyone explained the difference between payroll tax and capital gains tax?

Capital gains tax is basically a second tax on money already earned and invested.
