The Taliban released a video clip that shows their fighters preparing for the Sept. 14 suicide assault on Camp Bastion in Helmand province, Afghanistan. The video includes footage of a planning session in front of a whiteboard that has a map of the base; the video also shows two of the fighters

In the Taliban video clip released today, several fighters are seen dressed in US Army digital combat fatigues. The faces of many of the members of the assault team are digitally blocked. Two members of the team provide their wills; one of them speaks in English.

Why release a video? Just seems real dumb and pointless to do so. I mean what are they proving? The Islamic website it was released on said they plan to release the full video at a later point...why wait?

Negative.

Think about it like this. Your mother, children, wife, father, best friend, or all of the above are killed in airstrikes or other violence by an invading force. These events cause you to hate the invading force and want to get revenge, even if it takes your own life. These aren't all idiots, many young men have had multiple things happen in their lives over there in the past decade to bring them to acts such as this.

For example: If Canada decided it was going to invade the U.S. because they wanted to change our reckless leadership and my family was killed by them in the process, I'm pretty sure hate and revenge is a natural feeling.

The difference between them and 'us' over there, is they have a reason to fight, the 'good guys' only fight to stay alive and make it home.

To show us how easily it can be done and that they have the level of training and coordination to make such an act possible. It is propaganda. These dudes have film crews with them all the time which is why the guys in the video “Collateral Murder” were not regarded as special or protected as journalists. They were as far as we knew just another couple Jihadists with cameras filming propaganda.

One of the key points of an insurgency is to undermine the belief/trust the people have in the level of competence and security provided by the establishment (In this case NATO). It’s called information warfare. One not need “win” traditional battles anymore one must only “win” the one that maters – that is the battle to control the portrayal of the war by the media.

In this case we are getting our butts kicked primarily because the MSM is sympathetic to our enemy and delights in highlighting the slightest of errors while refusing to cover or even acknowledge the acts of good carried out by our troops.

They are generating sympathy for the cause by portraying the men as martyrs to those of the Islamic Jihadist mindset by showing their dedication etc. They engender sympathy for their cause in the minds of the “people” of America by showing the young men reading will's, saying goodbye to loved ones etc. This makes him into a man not "the faceless enemy" a human – he is just a man; war is inhumane they are just fighting back etc. It works and the "sheep" eat it up with a big spoon.

The video inspires the sheep in the West to think thusly and then condemn the war effort if not the men participating in it which affects the morale of NATO/US forces in the field.

Again, the information war is key to winning any modern conflict. That is why the Islamic Jihadists will win in the end – our own compassion and desire to “see the other mans point of view” and to “walk in his shoes” – “tell his story” or whatever the MSM wants to call their hit pieces on the US today are simply arrows in the quiver of the enemy.

Uniforms could be stolen, but there are a couple alternatives. They can be purchased online.

The most likely way they got them is right out of the trash. When soldiers are leaving to finally come back home after a year, they have more stuff than they left with. We were told to cut up any uniforms or ACU items before throwing them away because they are used by the enemy. You are on your way home, you have money in the bank from deployment, you don't give a second thought to throwing away a few uniforms that wont fit in your bags.

Thats why I was wondering if they were stolen? sold by someone from within for cash (just the way several other goodies and hardware is sold in the international black market).
