US taxpayers paid more to Israeli defense budget than Israelis

www.veteransnewsnow.com

The Israeli army’s chief of staff states that in the past three years, “US taxpayers have contributed more to the Israeli defense budget than Israeli taxpayers,” according to a report in the Jerusalem Post, a prominent Israeli newspaper.

According to the report, Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi made the statement during a speech on September 11th. In it he emphasized: “We must preserve ties with the United States. I believe this is a security necessity.”

Interesting choice of date for the speech mentioned above. Tell you what, we'll leave that kettle of fish aside for now, or at least I will.

But the rest of it...is madness. Complete insanity.

The US pays for Israel in so many ways. It pays in raw cash. It pays in global reputation as refusal to treat fairly with the Palestinians tarnishes our global good name. Our halls of power are crawling with Israeli shills and lobbyists intent on wrangling yet more money and spurring the tired US war-horse to fight for their cause. Propagandists whip up the war fury against Muslims and Arabs so our sons and daugters will bleed for Israel. Our presidential candidates have to go on bended knee before the Wailing Wall like suplicants. Paid preachers like John Haggee take money from Israel to pump out "Christian Zionist" propaganda in churches. There is outrage in the press when the President of the USA doesn't re-arrange his schedule to meet with the Israeli President every time he snaps his fingers.

Meanwhile we have more homeless than ever before, including more CHILDREN without homes. Why Israel should get a DIME while there is a single homeless child in America is beyond me. Budgets are more indebted than ever before. Bankruptcies soar, the government plunges into the red. Municipalities cut everything from teachers to police, while roads and bridges crumble from lack of funds for upkeep. Yet there's always plenty of money for Israel. Funny how that works, isn't it?

We pay and pay and pay, and pay some more. And what do we get back in return? Where is the advantage for the US in this "special relationship?" Is the USA nothing but a big dumb cash-cow to be bled out and kicked and bull-whipped into doing Israel's bidding?

Where will it end? How much of this are you going to stand for, America?

It's hard for me to get excited over this. Foreign aid is 1% of our budget. Israel gets 1/5 of that. We have treaty obligations to protect them. You stick by your allies when they're in trouble, and Congress would never cut them off entirely. Besides, we don't send them money, we send them military items that our workers have built.

I just don't see the outrage.

You need to brush up on your statistics, my friend.

Israel accounts for a whopping one-third of all US foreign aid.. Meanwhile, with a population of 7.8 million, they account for a little more that one-tenth of one percent of global population. Hmmmm.

And as far as i am concerned, as long as there is a single homeless child, crumbling bridge, or shuttered police station in America due to budget cuts they don't deserve a PENNY of our tax money.

And as also noted above, even leaving aside the grossly unfair money situation, the US pays for Israel in ways ranging from the blood of our military to the besmirching of our reputation. Oh, you might retort, they are our ALLIES. But Alliance is a two-way street. How does this alliance benefit the US in the slightest, besides attracting the ire of the rest of the world?

Then there is the indignity of being subjected to propaganda barrages, lobbying, endless shilling and mental assault by the public relations cockroaches that have wormed their way into the media and the government lobbies. Can't put a price tag on that! I won't even bother to mention the well-documented corporate and military espionage of valuable secrets. What a friend we have in Israel!

well if it`s only 1% then we could cut off all foreign and they shouldn`t be any the worse for not getting it.Then we can give that measly 1% to social programs right here in america, nobody would object to that since it`s only a measly 1%, right?

So,
this site says US aid in 2011 was 8.2Million per day
ifamericansknew.org...

Israel has population of
7.7mil

USA has population of
311 mil

considering that each israeli would need to multiply his daily contribution by 5100x to MATCH the american contribution, id say this is a mute point.

One of the things that surprised me when I looked at the most recent Congressional Research Service report on aid to Israel, www.abovetopsecret.com... wasn't that it was so small. although $3 billion to the US is fairly small, it was that Iraq is now getting more aid than Israel is.

But, of course, if your position is that Israel should get nothing, I can understand that. I also understand that it's not going to happen, because of moral, political, and strategic considerations. Not to mention the disastrous foreign policy implications.

What written is true. I on behalf of the world can only watch and write in forums on how Americans will destroy themselves unless they woke up.

Alas, even American woke up now the end is near for them. What a great nation and how it being used and how its people fall and all happen at the same time. Its a joke but a sad joke to laugh, I pity on you guys but you guys dont even try to open your eyes.

On behalf of the world we say this -

Its not the world fault you become like this.

Its funny, Britain as ex owner barely do nothing with Israel and yet Americans who have no history with Israel dying to "protect" it

Do you know that, or are you just left with that impression after being deluged with years of mainstream media propaganda spin?
I am not aware of a formal alliance between the US and Israel.
There are treaties that the US is partner to, concerning the Palestinians, Israel, and Egypt, like what was made by Carter, but I don't think part of that was a commitment to militarily back Israel in aggressive, offensive warfare against other countries which may not even a neighbor, such as Iran.

I personally think Israel should get nothing from us. When they chose to create secret nukes, in my opinion, we should have cut ties. Either the nukes or our support not both. Also, they didnt have sufficient bunker busters, a few months ago we anounced we had created them and then within a day or so anounced a new aid package to Israel. Wonder if we just supplied them with the bombs they need to hit Iran with. Of course that wasn't enough. Ben Netanyahu is over here trying to get the US to join in on an unjustifiable attack.

People still link to that virulently anti-Semitic hate site?

veterannewsnow or whatever is laughable. The owner hates Jews so much he can't even see straight.

In summary: laughable thread with pathetically sad source.

Dear jmdewey60,

YOU ARE RIGHT. I WAS WRONG. I'M SORRY.

I have heard Israel referred to as an "ally" so often, and by so many presidents, that I took those statements literally. But I was wrong. There is no mutual defense treaty between the two, so they are not technically allies.

Thank you, thank you, very much for setting me straight. That's what ATS is for, and you've done a great job of it.

With respect,
Charles1952

Israel is, quite simply put, another private military contractor under the employ of the U.S., just like Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater Worldwide, DynCorp International etc... Only problem is, instead of us telling them when and where to fight, it has somehow morphed into a situation where they tell us when and where we fight.

If we don't agree, they just instigate a war in our behalf and then drag us into it. Just like they're attempting to do right now with this recent youtube video intentionally created to insight violence against America and according to it's creator, funded with 5 million dollars donated by 100 Israeli donors.

If I were ever going to cut off any foreign aid, without a doubt, I'd start with Israel.

I refer to it as a colony of the Anglo/US Empire.
It would instantly cease to exist without that imperial backing.
