[Hypothetical] Does anything we do really matter?

I think there is two answers to the original question. First of all, everything we do does matter at least in the sense of your own life and your family and friends lives. But at the same time, what we do probably does not matter in the slightest in terms of connection with the Universe. Modern Science seems to point to nothing existing beyond our universe in terms of afterlife and everything is here by chance, so if we matter in the grand scheme of things, probably not.
