Why you s/b afraid of 2012 and why TPTB s/b afraid of 2013

From a psychological standpoint people have accepted that Armageddon is just around the corner. A date has even been named in Dec 20, 2012.

We have been bombarded with movies, TV shows, media propaganda and internet trolls that predict Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Wars, Economic Collapse, Cosmic Collisions, etc.

There’s a good chance that any or all of that may still happen in the next 3 months.

However, if it doesn’t……..

People are going to wake up in Jan 2013.

No I mean really wake up.

Can you image what will happen in Jan 2013 when every person on earth realizes that the world isn’t going to end?

Can you image the rush that will be experienced when the world population goes to bed one night, thinking there was no reason to look beyond 12/20/2012 and suddenly finding out you they have everything to look forward to?

Can you imagine the empowerment that will swell up in people when they realize the future will be what they make of it – that they are responsible for their own fate as apposed to it being predestined?

Can you image the fear TPTB will have with a population that will start demanding accountability for their government, for war and peace, for economic stability, for global progress?

TPTB have a big incentive to ensure something bad happens in the next 3 months because if it doesn’t I believe they will lose their grip on us and their power.

If we don’t perish in the next 3 months….what are your demands of TPTB for 2013?

I don't know in which reality you live, but the world population does not think that the world will end in December. A handful of confused people, yes.
And no, there is no propaganda going on trying to tell people that either. It's entertainment.

Also, same thing goes with TPTB. No such thing.

That's a very hopeful outlook, OP.

In fact, I think the opposite will occur. Many will be disillusioned, depressed and dejected and suicide rates will shoot up for a while (especially for those who have 'given up everything').

I don't think any rational person ACTUALLY thinks the world is going to end in three months. I am more inclined to think it is just an interesting thought to throw around, not to be taken as fact. The only apocalypse that will maybe happen in the next three months will be in Iran. Other than that, things will be exactly the same.

heard many times over the years that it was the end... armageddon... or that this .. that or the other thing would wipe out the world... the dates came and went... the world still here... as to the corrupt bastards people call leaders .. they still steal the people blind and send them off to die so they can line their pockets... nothing ever changes...

You first three respondents may be the most stable minded folk I've seen on ATS.

I think a lot more people than are willing to admit it have lingering concerns regarding a 2012 cataclysm. An increddible amount of the population knows about it just from the sheer volume of media and information out on the airwaves. A 2012 event could potentially be the largest ever predicted event OR false event in history.

Peoples moods and outlook often ride subliminal waves that are related to media exposure and hyberbole.

If you recall a week after 9/11 churches, mosques and synagogue were full and charitable donations where thru the roof. People urgently needed to express a number of emotions.

How will they respond to a huge non-event? Like they just dodged a bullet perhaps? Or maybe as one of you said with the opposite reaction of civil disobedience or depression.

You're quite right. There have been many dates and predictions that have come and gone but I think 2012 is different. It may be the line in the sand for conspiracy theorists.

2012 ties many possibilities together in a non specific world ending cataclysm but if it doesn't happen I think a lot of people will say " I will never pay attention again and get on with my life - I will make sure I secure the best future for myself that I can".

Actually there are quite a few people who believe that something will happen around the end of this year. I'm not one of them though but I do believe this is a way to keep many people from trying to influence any positive change! As for your idea that there's no such thing as TPTB! Wow you are Nieve! We see their influences pretty much everywhere but you don't see it that way! Though they may not be as organized as many believe but they are real! Look up the CFR, the trilateral commision and the bilderbergers then tell me about how these groups have no influence!
Look I don't believe there is one group of people but many groups that add up to about .01% of the western world
and the most wealthy families that are influencing world events! These people have more influence then any world leaders and like calling the shots from behind the scenes! I would love to live in a world free from the immoral compasses of the super rich but the truth is we are all just pawns in a real game of manipulation that
has created the global economy, destroyed any nations that tryed not to participate, has systematically destroyed the middle class of the USA, has created perpetual wars and controls the media to keep what's not news worthy for their agenda out of our eyeline! ignorance to truth does'nt change reality but it does help us to feel secure! Even though this security is a false one it is one that keeps us sane! I see why so many are so

learned long ago its pointless to worry.... we're born .. we live... we die ... what matters is living life without regrets and trying to make the world a little better along the way ... already enough misery in the world no need to add more to it...
funny its always westerners that I hear going on about 2012 .. elsewhere its just another year and people carrying on with their lives as normal.. doomsday is one of the many things thats unique to western culture ... would be a thread by itself if listed the many things westerners fret over and the rest of the world doesnt give a thought about....

USA is not "the world". The American spirit is not to care about its own population. Everyone is supposed to be on their own. I dont think a date is gonna make a difference for the future of humanity. Maybe an event which people unite.

Do you really believe this? noone is on their own. I wish we could put all those that think this way on a little island to be on their own. We saw examples of how we are not on our own when the big banks were bailed out in 2008

The poverty in the U.S is very big, even before 2008.
The American way IS to NOT give anyone ANYTHING. You need to "deserve it".
In many other countries, the reasoning is instead that if everyone has the right to get a proper education and free medical care, then everyone has a reasonable chance to make it, no matter where you were born or how your parents are.

In the U.S, even people with "jobs" might do their "jobs" without a salary and only rely on tips. Essentially being slaves.
