Why does China and Jpan so desperatly want this part of the world so much. i understand Japan is a very proud nation that would rather take roisk over, give away, but i just don't get it.

Sure it might be over, oil, natural resources, but still. I thought China was buying up Africa, to tap into such for when the middle east was bone dry, so i don't really get this.

They don't want it that much. BUT, there is deep, ingrained ill sentiment between the two nations - especially from China towards Japan (see: history) - and the Chinese government want to rally nationalistic pride as much as possible to ensconce their own position, and the Senkaku / Daioyu islands dispute is the perfect apparatus for this.

Moreover, China pressing to be the new 'Soviets' of the region, also goads them to sabre rattle whenever the opportunity arises.

Mark my words: forget those backwards Muslims and their blustering about 'holy land' this and 'kill those who insult the Easter bunny' that; it will be ASIA where the fuse is lit for any future global conflict.

History lesson, Americdans mass murdering chinese in America. Opening fire on chinese in China. English-Frensh looting in China. Atrocities made by Japan. Americans support for Nazis in China, and for the usurber of the throne. The english selling opium to China, and trying to "legalize" selling opium and making them dependant on this stuff.

These are just small fractions of the atrocities China has had to endure.

They are in their perfect right here.

history lesson,

American fighter pilots fighting FOR the Chinese before WW2 when they lacked an air force, enduring hardships and loss.

EDIT:
Just so you know, they want to go to war with Japan, a peaceful nation, and eventually fight YOUR COUNTRY, if your American, or your close ally if you live in the west. They don't love you back.

In my travels in that part of the world on board big ships this is nothing bigger than the fleets of fishing boats actually fishing around the various East Asian Coasts all the time.
I don't count a thousand, maybe a hundred.

Those fishing fleets do look frightening, espacially with the current mood between China and Japan. But nevertheless, it is only part of a 10,000 annual fleet for commercial fishing passing through and fishing in those waters as a livelihood.

1. Japan navy can turn a blind eye, and let them fish in those waters. Afterall, Japan fishing fleet had not depleted its own resources in other seas. China has 1.3 billion to feed, and Japan can afford compassion, as it had for years, and may the Chinese fishermen realizes it and appreciate it in kind.

Techinically, that fleet had violated the soveriegn waters of Japan. Those island belonged to Japan as China under CCP govt had made no claims over it, after it booted out the rightful ruler of China - Chiang Kai Shek.

USA could have supported Chiang and lay claim to the whole of China, but was magnimous and did not, to give world peace a chance. Our forefathers sacrificed their lives for that.May the Chinese People respect and honor our forefathers' sacrifices.

If ancient history is to be guage for territorial claims, then Han China only owned a few village hamlets within the interior of China while Mongols and the Qings in turn own the entire China lands, only awaiting a mongol or qing to claim his inheritance on behalf of their own people.

Claims of brutalities are not limited to the Japanese. The various Han dynasties had equally been brutal to its own people. And most recent of all - from 50s to 70s, CCP commie devil Mao had murdered far more than any previous ruler of china surpassing millions of chinese. Where is their outrage against the current CCP govt who had glossed and whitewash history?

2. Japan only need to ensure no boat lands on the island itself, with regular patrols on those island to arrest any tresspassers. The RULE OF LAW applies. Equally if that fleet intends to create trouble by provoking or ramming their boats at the Japan naval ships, or behaving as a nuisance generally.

3. The Chinese authorities are responsible for their own citizens. If the fleet misbehave, it will be the fault of the authorities and are the ones to take FULL BLAME for any adverse incident on international waters.

May the CCP govt be wise and play by international rule of law. Whomever gets to own those island, it will be through diplomatic means peacefully without sabre rattling. To do otherwise, is to BULLY others just because they think they have the might. Nazi Germany made that mistake. May the CCP govt and the Maoists within it, wake up.

Thinking like a mason for a while: Everyone knows deep inside that these dog eaters are too much expanding and has to be wiped off the face of the earth at some point. World can't stand another Tibet these days. And that thing with Russia is hanging in the air too. Sooner or later. Put on your sunglasses and let the most expanding nation do the job.
I like Japanese. I didn't like Soviet union and Mao. Asia is a competitive anthill. It's animaly simple. Once there's too much of ants there they'll be spreading and colonizing.
Just don't let them make you a soldier.

Thats why I agreed that they were only after tuna and not to be scared.

Thats why I also said that all I see are targets, if a group looking like that tried to invade anyone they would be crushed instantly.

Apparently these islands have been claimed by Japan since 1895, and it's only five small islands with three rocks. Even Google has poor satellite coverage of them. Is China that hard up on resources? One of the larger islands is only two by one miles in size, and I don't see many docking areas there. What are they all going to do once they get there? Drop anchor, make signs that read Occupy Senkaku?

.

What's below those islands or the Economic sphere of influence you get by "owning" them? Why do you think nations are making claims in the Arctic?
