On this coming monday the 24th I will be evicted for past due rent and will be homeless. I am 48 and have no living relatives and what friends I do have aren't in much better shape than me. I been refused by church groups, salvation army, Olsha, red cross even the state DHS all because I don't have a job. If I had a job I doubt I'd be in this situation. I don't know what to do, I am frantic and in deep despair. I allways had work and never thought it would get this bad. I live in mid michigan and it's rough, very rough. I think my age has a bearing on why I cannot get a job also.

So I say to you God Bless you, be greatful you at least have family which I do not.
I will definately pray for you and again I ask that you would do it for me.
My name is Robert btw.

Robert
I urge you to flip a bus ticket to Apple Valley Ca. We have room for you and all who have offered to help me. You want to help a good person ? Help Robert get here. I don't want him freezing to death this winter. PM me Robert.

My sweet soul sister,
I think I ve made my decision to fly north. Dakota it's going to be. I just need the hook up to know exactly where I'm going. I have to get there before all the jobs are taken. If Robert ends up here he'll be included as family. This should be an adventure.
Something doable is all I need.

For you !

No. Dakota is the place to go i agree..North Dakota's unemployment rate is the lowest in the country.. Workers are landing jobs that pay six-figures in the oil boomtowns such as Williston, Watford City and Belfield..

But the problem is lack of housing and extremely harsh winters. Most of the guys there are living in there cars and campers or tents but there you will see one hiring sign after another. If i was to go any were it would be there! peace,sugarcookie1

As much as the offer sounds tempting and would unleash a long awaited free spirit in me. But I have many possetions of just really no value like photo's of my familily, My dads ashes, my artwork, my PC and all of my many Terabytes of collected media and my old trusty Ford truck. I'd hate to loose it all. Basically I will prolly loose it all anyway unless some miracle happens. Which I have had happen in the near past as well. But again I do not really have any dependable friends and defiantely no family that would miss me here. Thats a fact. I dread the thought of having lost everything and going into a shelter. Honestly I would rather take my own life than have to be in that situation. I still have 5 1/2 days and sweating bulletts and praying for some kind of miracle. I have been selling off little things on craigslist that have some value just to get gas $$$ to look for employment. But still not even one phone call. I Have majic jack phone and free wifi in this area so I am glad I set up that cause I cant even afford cell minutes at this point. I do got foodstamps, thats all DHS would help me with though.

Your friendship my lady has been the ultimate plus here with-in. I hope you don't take the video the wrong way as it it's filled with all sorts innuendo. I just liked the part where it says, " Come dance with me " ! Someday I know that will happen. I do know you so well in such a short time.

Peace baby !

It's depressing to know how many people are going though these struggles. I pray that 2012 does change the world for the better. I still have hope that we can somehow save ourselves. Keep up the good fight brother.

Man let me tell you, the American Dream is most of us who are still asleep and don't want to wake up in this nightmare, the American Nightmare!

My dream and goal was, I worked for two small companies, do didn't have a pot to piss in. I brought them accounts and fixed their little problems that no one-else could do. I was promise raises and promotions..man when they got back on to their feet, I never saw a lick of nothing!!!

They're taking money from the company to give and by things for themselves. I am a struggling proud middle-age man who works four damn jobs to make rent, car, and fuel payments and I'm still having hardships, while the people who I'm working for had nothing until I fixed their problems and look at them now, sippin' it all up!

This world, and every soul in it don't care about you and I, everyone is out for their own butts and whoever gets the come-up first wins for now, but in the end "we as the people" shall raise and take back what we have work hard for and what belongs to us even if it means blood, swear and tears but, if we don't do anything..then we just fail ourselves.

I kind of feel with you too OP because I've had no such luck on jobs either, but seeing as I'm in my early 20s and going to community college, I do have a bit of an advantage.

I've been unemployed for almost 5 months now (my last job at a certain delivery service let me go within 3 weeks of being hired) and jobs are hard to come by, especially in a small town and not having a vehicle (that's another story). Right now, I'm earning money watching my ill gran while gramps goes to work, but it's still not enough to pay for my loan from the last time I went to college (had to drop out after the market crashed in 2010). People call me lazy and say I'm not doing anything looking for a job, but I'm on call lists through temp agencies and the internet, yet nothing.

Ah well, I hope a struggling film student like me can get # work at a studio...maybe fixing cameras?

We desperately need a new way of life here in the US. I just don't want history to repeat itself.

To avoid doing it all over again the people who get through the coming #### need to know more about how it GOT this way. The american dream was always an illusion.

Randy, this has been some read and I feel for you and others that are going thru their personal troubles, in these ruff times.

Things aren't much better here in New Zealand, especially for a 56 year old, but I get by building websites (self taught), Internet marketing, helping out part-time at a shop etc. Never enough to feel comfortable or provide luxuries for my 9 & 11 year old, but happy to at least not be in the dire situation you and others have outlined.

We do pay ridiculous priced for our petrol here at NZ$2.19 per liter, which outs to US$6.90 per gallon! Our tomatoes reached NZ$18.99 a kilo recently, which is about US$7.15 per pound.

Luckily we have a very good social welfare system the takes care of the middle-class (with children) and less fortune, but it's barely enough to manage on, and is constantly under attack by our National government (Republic leaning). A new plan announced is; if you are receiving a benefit and don't send your children to preschool or primary, then you can lose 50% of your benefit. So basically home schooling is OUT.

Additionally, many, many children are turning up to school, not having had breakfast and supplied no lunch. It's really that bad in some areas.

Where I live (Christchurch), we are all still trying to get over a devastating earthquake from Feb 2011 that resulted in many deaths, and the destruction of 60% of our central city. The stress and trauma (ongoing), from thousands of businesses closing and resulting job losses, delays in insurance payouts, freaked out children, is not something I'd wish on anybody.

Just remember that while you've got your health and the support of a loved one, you are doing much better than many others that are down on their luck.

And finally, WHAT'S COMING??? BAD THINGS

2012 will not end well I believe. The writing is on the wall and the trigger is about to be pulled.

Take care everyone and be prepared.

At the risk of sounding like Romney, why not get off your ass and make your own money? Why are you living with her parents? You talk about HER job history, but not your own.

I would like all the kids in school to see this post so they know what to expect when they drop out like you did. This is not a personal attack on you exactly, more of a public service to those people who think working at Mc Donalds is a career decision. For all those people who are lazy and think they DESERVE something for nothing I say put up or shut up. If you took the time to learn a SKILL that would support your family you would have a job.

There are lots of jobs out there for people willing to work. If your wife puts in enough apps she will get a job. I don't know if she was fired unjustly or not, but the real issue is why YOU are not providing for your family? It is hard right now, but like you eluded to things will get tougher. You should have a better hedge on your bets here. Learn a craft! Plant a garden! Sell your junk!

Then again, there is always Mc Donalds.

From my readings of history (which may be suspect), the American Revolution was supposedly about prinicples. You know - things like 'inalienable rights', etc. etc. I'm afraid the coming 'revolution' will be more along the lines of the French Revolution. Total chaos, murder and mayhem. Bloody. Vengeful. Self-consuming. It will be more about revenge, envy, narcissism - things like that.

The level of animosity toward the 'ruling' class in America is reaching critical mass. I think pretty soon it's going to explode, and all holy hell is going to come down on America.

Romney has written off the bottom 1/2.
Obama continues to try to persuade the middle class - all the while viewing it with disdain, or even contempt - that he's on their side.
Both are in the top strata - and both are part of the 'ruling' class.

Since there is no option on the ballot for "NONE OF THE ABOVE", there is no stopping this train. It's only a matter of time. And I think that time is running out.

Good luck to you sir.

In West Texas an inexperienced person can get an entry level position at $130K per year. I started 8 months ago at the age of 52 and no previous oil field experience and will make about $150K this year. I just moved to the US 8 months ago and found a job here in 2 days. I also have wife and kids. Every radio station here has ads all day for employers seeking warm bodies. I work over 100 hours a week and rarely get any days off. Do I wish it were different? Yes but I must feed my family. It is hard work, both mentally and physically. I swing a 14lb sledge hammer two hours a day and operated equipment 16 to 24 hours in a day with a few cat naps. I have a BS degree but now use my body instead of my mind. I do what it takes. Check out the Odessa American classified ads for jobs and good luck. Do not give up. There is tons of work in ND, south and west Texas.

What's coming is #### !

What did I tell you bro..? If you keep investing in an imaginary Boss, you're gonna lose the shirt off your back.

But, thankfully, you have a good support system to fall back on, including myself...

I have no prayer or words of wisdom for you my friend, but I can offer you logging and a warm plate of grub for some time. And the beers are free, as I know the conversations to follow more than make up for the cost.

See, the thing is, ATS offers a medium for different ideologies to gather. If it wasn't for this place, I'd never have met you Randy, as I don't search for my opposite. You never gave up on me, and I won't give up on you.

Hang tough brotha', and if you need anything, even an upside down cross, I'm here for you..

Love you man.

Twice in one day ! I love this friggen guy !
Hold on to that cross face. You'll figure out which end is up. I have faith in you.

Man I'm lovin all the love and support for you Randy. You reap what you sow, and you my friend have planted many positive seeds. You can tell by the support that others are offering you. I love it. Props to Slayer and Facelift for being so human.

To the OP, without addressing the rest of your post, unless your wife was found guilty of a crime, I don't see a scenario where a background check would result in her being denied employment legally, based on the reasoning. Maybe she was, and it's personal business, I know you didn't share all the details of the scenario, but if not, it sounds like grounds for a successful, and potentially lucrative lawsuit.
If the H.R. department, or LP, or whoever gave a prospective employer anything beyond the dates she worked there, for example, "oh, she did this, amd that's why we fired her.', its a slam-dunk win in court for you.
