Looks like we have a comedian in the house.
In all reality if it wasn't for the debt based monetary system things wouldn't be as bad as they are. It's not us vs. them, it's systemic. Stop looking at silly social issues and start looking at things systematically.
What we need is a better monetary system not based on debt. One where the individual is in control of inflation as per his/her transactions. Deflation decided as a ratio of time and inflation. With no centralization. Also, there should be many competing creditors in the market.
If we do the above we might get out of this in a non-destructive manner. If we don't we will be jerked around again and again until we are completely controlled or decimated as a species.
Focus on the monetary system ONLY and let everything else fall by the wayside. If you don't, prepare to manipulated by silly social and emotional issues.
Naw, you held a Pity Party, and everybody is playing their role.

For the record, I'm not a drama queen and again save the sympathy for those who need it. I'm really quite happy.

The last few years companies have really started to rely on other employers evaluations of people. There used to be a time when getting a disciplinary action from an employer, or even getting fired did not spell the end of your career. Today though, employers rely on combined technology to track and determine a persons suitability for employment. Part of that check includes relying on another employers reasons for getting rid of you. I have filled out more then a few job applications recently and almost every one of them had a question such as have you ever been fired, or received any disciplinary action against you? Of course I have had these. Anyone who has worked more then 10 years has probably received a written disciplinary action at some point.
Your wife seems to be in a similar circumstance. It will indeed be very hard for her to find work in any retail environment. I think an employer shouldn't be allowed to get any information from another employer outside of very specific information such as the dates you worked there and what you did while working there. To allow employers to exchange information that damages another persons ability to work, when no criminal charges are brought, damages our country in the long run making those individuals dependent on the government for assistance just to live, when they are more then capable of working. If any private citizen interfered with you getting a job by spreading rumors about your character you could sue them. However, government has allowed corporations these extra rights to impeach a persons reputation, because they have not regulated their actions as it affects the rest of society.
