Good old Jupiter, trash magnet of the solar system. Where would we be without Jupiter?

We would be a dead planet looking something like the moon and mars combined.

Jupiter. God of Thunder and Great Protector. Having it there makes the inner solar system feel a little safer now, doesn't it.

Yes many have said Jupiter is like our big brother protecting us

But I still say they do not tell us the hole story.

The whole story? What are your thoughts. I have sometimes wondered if Jupiter is a failed Star and maybe burned briefly billions of years ago.

But seeing your post above I assume you mean why this object just suddenly hit Jupiter without any fore-warning or insight by major astronomers.

We're probably a little more concerned with Near Earth Objects than Near Jupiter Objects. I dont give an F what happens to Jupiter, as long as it keeps protecting us from some of those big ole impacts

Or........they knew it was going to hit jupiter and it wasnt a big deal.........

This titan of a planet sees thousands if not hundrds of thousands of impacts a year..........

Im just not seeing as how this is some conspiracy to keep us in the dark?

I mean im glad jupiter is there........and im not trying to be condescending at all so dont mistake me there, i guess im just not seeing this as an issue......

I don't think we monitor the entire solar system with the intensity that we monitor earth.

Besides, how do you know they didn't know it was coming? Maybe they did. Everyone's way too distracted by Mars to care about some space junk hitting Jupiter. That's just academic, has no effect on anything to do with us.

I think it would be an important deal to astronomers. Not sure if your figure of 1000 impacts a year is an exaggeration or not. But it would make sense, from a scientific standpoint, to watch the impacts and size of object and see what kind of effects it has on Jupiter. From that they might be able to clarify what an impact of such sorts would so to Earth.

I still hope you have the same line of thinking the next one is coming at us and see what you think then
Me I still say they will not tell us they will just use it as a way to get to what there plan is
whatever that is

I don't believe Earth will react the same way to those impacts as the Gas Giant does. It would be more devastating on Earth for obvious reasons.
