How do they know this?

How can anything in space be proven, outside of NASA?

As a human being, we know and can prove absolutely nothing about space.

Could space be an illusion held together by billion year old hologram/projection technology?

Genesis 1:16 -- "God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars".

We never see the moon rotate.

Scientists claim the sun is millions of miles from the moon, yet both appear the same size in our sky.

Sounds like one big awesome lie, meant to later evolve our species when we are conditioned enough to accept the truth.

I read through their website information and I can see why they could 'believe' this, for a minute. It's quite fascinating and goes against everything I/we have been taught. Pretty interesting to think about though...however, I stop there because lack of proof and compelling evidence.

If the flat earth plane were infinite, then how do they explain their theory of a 150 foot ice wall surrounding our 'disk' earth to hold the oceans in? Wouldn't that be relatively easy to prove...just go to the ice wall with a camera right?

Also, they should really freak out if global warming is true and the ice caps are melting...

Let me start by saying, I believe the Earth is round (ish), but if it turns out it's anything but round, then it is most likely a torus. If it's flat, it's because we're living in a matrix.

The Flat Earth Society seems to think otherwise:

Ships disappear on the horizon, but its only an optical illusion. After a ship goes 6 miles, it doesn't disappear over a hump of water. I can prove that with a telescope.

Interesting thread. I appreciate the time you took to conduct the interviews.

It's certainly creative, and I'm impressed that they aren't all bible-thumpers, these flat earth people.

I've been warping my mind while reading through this thread trying to figure out how it could be true (the earth being flat). I won't go into some of my wilder imaginings, though I will offer this:

Video games. We perceive spherical objects and 3D environments when it's all just a projection of pixels on a flat screen using relatively basic math. Who's to say that what we perceive isn't constructed in a similar fashion? Wouldn't our creations mimic nature due to information association? What if we're stuck on an event horizon, trapped like a fly, yet we perceive projections which can appear rather spherical?

Fun thread, aside from the glut of mocking posts which did nothing but waste my time and reduce my respect for humanity.

How can someone with any modern intelligence even begin to believe this? There is sooo much science that proves the earth is indeed round. I hope this thread is just a joke. Have you ever been outside your house OP? Ever been on a plane or out at sea? And how about plate tectonics, the fact that it's still daytime on the opposite of the earth when it's nighttime where you live, we have satellites ORBITING the earth, GRAVITY.

I could go on and on but i'm not going to waist anymore of my time on this thread.

I don't understand how an educated person, who clearly has the capacity to understand current science, can even attempt to debunk all of the instances where a round Earth has been proven. Circumnavigation of the globe, the curvature seen from space or high altitudes, the fact that gravity causes things to form circular bodies, Newtonian physics, our satellite navigation systems, etc...

Those things all fail to be explained by a flat Earth, and imagine the conspiracy that would be necessary to hide this fact from thousands upon thousands of unconnected scientists over centuries. To say that these scientists are not in fact lying, but rather are just ignorant, is quite insulting to say the least. I just cannot fathom any of this flat Earth crap.

I can't believe that people actually take this seriously. I have literally circumnavigated the globe while serving in the US Navy. The only people that could get away with thinking that the Earth is flat is some undiscovered tribe living deep in the Amazon or some other jungle

if you fly a plane in a straight line, never change altitude, why don't you fly off into space or do you gain altitude without touching the plane.

If you follwed the same lattitude you would fly around the earth L.A. to Japan, Spain to Florida think of tether ball.
The post being magnetic north the rope's length being lattitude the plane is the ball. Get it?
