I know this is a little dated but I saw it again recently and thought there were some interesting points in it. Why is there such a belief in this world that being ignorant is funny? Why do people disdain things that make them think? Is cheap joke better than one that takes thought?

This is coming from a "Redneck" from Oklahoma. I have never liked Larry the Cable Guy. Some of his jokes are funny, but his whole act is a farce, He's from Nebraska, and doesn't actually talk like that, He makes money by basically making fun of his core audience, and these poor people are too stupid to know it. Stepping off my soapbox now...

Thanks for that and I agree with you. I guess some people enjoy the sterotype of being dumb. Cross' whole point is there is a subsection of people who are proud of being stupid - I'd like to give "southerner" more credit than that - Larry the Cable guy doesn't.
