Thanks for embedding Threads. They did a fantastic job. The special effects were great, much better than is done with CGI nowadays.

People should see this and start to do something about the militarism of the world. There is no need for it. War is obsolete and so are the elites who continue to use it as an alternative to ordinary human decency.

ummmm, ok, if you say so......can ya give me a list of those resources I am supposedly getting. Last I checked the Iraqis sold their oil and kept the money. Now as far as I am concerned they should be paying back every penny of my tax dollars that got spent on them.....be it through free oil for me and my countrymen until the debt is payed or through cutting us a check for the amount due.

If I am reading your post correctly and understanding the view you have correctly, you are claiming we are going in and taking another nations resources as our own.
I believe you repeat what you have herd others exclaim as fact without evidence to show that reinforces this.
Someone once said the moon is made of cheese, I have never been to the moon myself so I honestly can not say that I know for certain that it is not..........but I have the feeling that who ever said that is either mistaken or lying.

Oh my god, you honestly believe that America is the saving grace of the planet? You wonder why the WORLD not just Muslims have contempt for America when there is such balanced individuals like yourself there.

I would prefer they were exterminated.

That sounds like a certain German individual that America "alone" saved us from.

You honestly think that America has the right to interfere in every single countries business and call for blood when they take some of your country men hostage? It is not off topic, it is exactly what your country done to Japanese AND American citizens in WWII. The hypocrisy of your statements is unbelievable

I want 1000 dead Iranians for every day my fellow Americans were held against their will for no other reason than they were American.

If that was a person from Japan during the time that America was locking them up in camps the total would come to 1100000000 Americans a DAY, end of the population of America. What do you think of that statement, do you agree? America is the AGGRESSOR in these wars, they are a long way from home but still think that everyone should do as they say, the downfall is going to be a hard one.

On a side note the statement about killing people is an arrestable offense.

Aye... I am glad Jocko did post that movie. IMHO everyone should watch it. Most will not have to watch it twice, though I just watched it again and it is still just as horrifying.

So many layers to that movie. The whole idea of "winning" a nuclear war is beyond reason. There is also no preparation for it and this movie will stare down anyone who thinks they are prepared...

Though horrifying, it is the best 'in your face' movie I have ever seen.

It's a devastating portrayal of the effect of a nuclear war on the lives of ordinary people. It is interesting that 10 years after the war, when England's population has been reduced to medieval levels, that a lot of the young people can hardly speak English and seem to be operating on a very primitive level.

I think if such a thing were to happen today, things might be slightly better in some ways and maybe quite worse in others. Government, for example is much more deeply dug in to underground shelters and there are quite a few survivalists around.

People are a few degrees more aware now of the problems of survival in catastrophes, but look at what happened in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and also what happened in Iraq under UN sanctions.

Another real good WW3 scenario is portrayed in World War 3, a German/Brtish/American production, I believe. It deals more with the outbreak of the war caused by a coup by communist hardliners in Russia at the end of the Cold War and is very believable because of the extensive use of actual news footage in the presentation. It is quite riveting although not as personalized as the outstanding Threads.

Part 1 of 10

War is not logical at this point.

Please people, think before you post this silly pro-war bravado. This isn't the time nor the place for it!

Deny ignorance, not promote it!

I agree, let us not promote war, but argue against it. I see no reason why we need to have WW3, and if the powers that be think we do need to have it, than we should turn our backs to them. Humans need to evolve past silly wars and work together to advance our species, and advance us further into Space. Period.

That is to a large extent true, I believe, but I don't think that people who realize this also realize the real nature of the relationship between these people, call them oligarchs, and the politicians they hire.

The "true nature"? What could this be other than to do the masters' bidding? Are you suggesting something more nefarious like the politicians control the oligarchs? Sometimes these politicians are in fact oligarchs themselves, fabuolously wealthy and the scions of families heading large corporations and therefore commanding political power in and of themselves and their connections.

Or do you think the present political system is simply one where a corrupt elite (call them the oligarchs) are balanced sometimes and sometimes not by politicians actually motivated by the intent to protect the middle class? If you think this, how then do you explain the documented 40% drop in the wealth of US familes just in the period from 2007 to 2010?

Politicians must do the job they are both hired and elected to do.

That is a statement of ideology and not fact. If you look at the US and only the US over time, say the last 50 years, you can see that politicians do NOT do what they are elected to do. You could look at any modern industrialised country and see the same.

You do realize politicians always address two audiences, right? The voters they intend to cheat and big business interests they in fact serve.

If they serve the interests of big business they are not serving the interests of the public. The aim of one is profit, the aim of the other is need. You seem to be getting the two mixed up, which is the purpose of media spin of course.

The Japanese case sounds more the exception than the rule.

Absolutely not. If you have been following the Japanese government's maneourverings around the demands of big business against the overwhelming expressed wish of the Japanese people you would not make that kind of statement. I am talking about Fukushima and the issue of restarting the nuclear power stations in that country, ya know?

When you talk about 'stewards of the national economy' you need to stop right there and think about what that means. Too much to pull out of that. But for starters it has been a long long time since any national economy was decoupled from the global economy, and the very phrase 'national economy' is totally and perhaps intentionally ambiguous. Consider the measures being taken by so many governments right now to correct budget balances - austerity measures do not serve public good, they might tell you that is the reason for making you unemployed, for raising your taxes, for cutting your services (including education and health) but the real reason is to appease their real masters i.e. big business/ your oligarchs.

Warmongering to support your economy, your pals in the arms industry who continually push for war without provocation, should be made a criminal offence punishable in a criminal court BEFORE lives are lost, not after.

Crimes against humanity, or even attempted instigation of genocide with a maximum penalty of life without parole would be a good start to stop these corrupt arses...at least they'd think twice if it was their own arse on the line, and not just the 'worthless common peoples' children being ordered to become murderers and targets.

I propose in the event of war, the government is disolved - and the ex-ministers take the point position and go in first...bet we'd have a 1000 years of peace.

I would LOVE to see Israel attack Iran... In about 1 week Israel would be begging for Russia's to accept its surrender. .. It would be so awesome seeing the wanna be tough guy bully (Israel) get obliterated by Russia's FAR more advanced weapons.. Israel is given the USA's 1990's technology..

It's easy to be a bully when your the only one throwing the punches..
