Since this issue keeps being brought up on ballots and keeps getting voted down id have to say society doesnt approve of same sex marriage. So since society doesnt approve then it should be banned.

Certain societies didn't approve of Free blacks either.

That's why a Federal Law was enacted. As will be the case with Equal Marriage in the near future.

Did you know there were 13 states that denied race equality - - and there are 13 states who have denied marriage equality.

I'm not sure if they are all the exact same states - - - but the majority are.

Stop it. The LGBT community has beat itself silly over this issue and there is not one valid arguement against gay marriage. Legistlating morality is usually a folly that all to soon fails. I am a married heterosexual male. I have no problem with equality for everyone. Marriage should be between consenting adults...period. I do not understand any objection to this. Who does it harm? What are you afraid of in sharing this institution? What would be lost if two men, two women, or three of any combination married? All the problems in this world and we are worried about Al and Bob getting married? REALLY? And I consider myself conservative (not in a relgious way).

Don't worry, they will be allowed to marry soon I'm sure. Canada legalized it not too long ago, then England followed. I'm sure the USA will soon if they don't want to look like a Christian fundie nation stuck in the 1700s. Unless that's what the majority actually wants.

Somebody please assure me the majority doesn't want that...

Please

The LOUDEST "vocal" majority wants that.

Fortunately - - - 52% of American now support Equal Marriage. And are ignoring the LOUD MOUTH SELF-RIGHTEOUS.

I agree with the OP, there is little need to have legal marriage. It is discrimination against single people. Any legal benefits and responsibilities could just as well be tied to parenthood or ordinary contracts among consenting adults. But as long as legal marriage exists, I dont think it is correct to discriminate based on gender, therefore I support gay marriage.

Its rarely a matter of what the majority wants in this country. Instead, its more about who whines the loudest and who can get the media on their side.

BTW - - My position of EQUAL comes long before this current inequality.

It began with my disabled mom '52 polio epidemic. I witnessed early on the treatment of someone who was different and the ignorance that goes along with it.

It's definitely ingrained and not gonna change.

I can't even stand to read this crap anymore.

This is suposed to be all about 'rights' and 'freedom', but people are afraid to stand up for just that because of the FEAR of retaliation that seems to be popular now if you aren't 'for' same-sex marriage and all it apparently stands for.

BULL

WHY shouldn't these 'benefits' be taken away from us evil heterosexuals? Perhaps because some of the few last tendrils of the family unit that this country rose up from is precariously close to being torn apart. it seems like all of OUR rights are being targeted..and I am not just talking about the issues addressed in this OP. This is only one faucet of it, but it is becoming a bigger one. (and something that would play right into the greater plans of TPTB)

Let me remind you that when one group targets another it becomes a prejudice, which is why this whole uprisings of demands and angst is so hypocritical. I have absolutely nothing against anyone who is gay. I have always believed people should be able to live their lives how they want, so long as they aren't hurting anyone by it. I personally do not agree with it, but do not judge others for it (I have several gay friends). However, what has been happening of late and especially the kind of mentallity of this OP is just wrong.

It all comes down to the fact that marriage should never have been included in any government affairs,

Likewise homosexuals should not confuse the fact that marriage from the beginning, was created as a sacrament between a man and a woman.

People need to understand that true real reality behind the homosexual rights agenda, which believe me there really is at the highest levels, is to pervert what people would see clearly on their own if not for those that are in the LGBT movement and government working behind the scenes to create another form of division and strife amongst the population by targeting a sensitive (biblical mind you) area, by utilizing a group that's perverse to begin with. Of course they aren't going to take any mind to the details or if its even right. Why would gays want to get married to begin with. Most gay couples I have seen in my life aren't even happy. They don't function like a normal couple because its unnatural, they know its a reprehensible act, but they push on regardless.

Actually the Federal Government never had any business creating a contract between itself and legal consenting adults.

THIS! So much This!

We don't live in the Future.

We live now. EQUAL applies to what we have NOW.

Not eliminating Legal Marriage - - - which I doubt you'd ever get Right Wing Christians to agree with. The ones that NOW - currently are doing everything they can do deny this government right to a minority group.

I suppose homosexuals are in some way responsible for the 52% divorce rate amongst Christians.

Why do you even bring "family being torn apart" into an Equal marriage discussion?

Cite source for that number por favor.

It may be 52% of heterosexual marriages, but I doubt it's the right number for Christian marriages. Assuming that by christian you mean people who practice christianity.

If you mean 'married in a christian venue' then maybe 52% isn't off.

Yes - - "government right" - - Legal Government marriage - - - being denied primarily because of Religious Belief.

Being that my statements are very straight forward - - I doubt the need to ask me what I mean.

Yes - - "government right"

Adults know that their rights do not come from the government.

Learn to logic.

Bingo, however this post will go unnoticed because people have been told to crush anyone with a differing opinion.,
The crux of the matter is WHY are people begging the gov't to rule their every breath.
