The government also said 41,000 fewer jobs were created in July and June than first estimated. The economy has added just 139,000 jobs a month since the beginning of the year, below 2011's average of 153,000.
ADP has missed big before, so its data shouldn’t be taken as rock solid,

Perhaps you can clarify if I'm just misunderstanding something here, but if you look lower in the article...:
The ADP report wasn’t the only cheery news on the jobs front. The Labor Department said new claims for jobless benefits fell to 365,000 last week, from a revised 377,000 in the prior week. The latest figure is close to the lowest weekly filings this year, and it suggests job cuts have receded recently.
So...approx. 200k jobs added in a month - offset by 742k new claims for jobless benefits in the prior TWO WEEKS.
Is there something I'm not seeing here, or is someone trying to fudge some numbers, rather unsuccessfully? Sure, the rate of new claims *slightly* decreased in a week, but still buries the months' supposed new job additions.
Let's also not forget that the oh-so-rosy numbers that get released on jobless benefit payout numbers decreasing are more than slightly fudged as they usually don't explain it's not due to things getting better on that front so much as it is to people aging out of the system and no longer qualifying.
The whole thing's a sham, since if we still counted unemployment the way we did during the Carter administration, I believe it would be +22% at this point.
And, all that aside - how on earth does Obama get any credit for the economy supposedly adding new jobs anyway? I can see nothing to cheer the man on for other than possibly being slightly less destructive and unaware about the proper role and limitations on his office than someone else MIGHT be. extra DIV

Well let's not go crazy with these numbers just yet. First of all it is an estimate and by no means fact. Second, 92% of the estimated new jobs are service jobs, which strongly suggests that these new jobs are flipping burgers which are clearly not high paying/benefit receiving jobs. Thus, the common worker's standard of living continues its inevitable decline.
Service jobs mean that people are having to "MAN" new business, they always proceed
a larger expansion of the economy.
The next jobs will be jobs to manage these people, manage the structural part of businesses,
etc.
