Know who I'm talking about?

Pink Floyd

Hope you enjoyed as much as I did who do you think is the greatest rock band to have lived? I have to say the beatles are up there on my list along with many other legends but Pink Floyd just make my soul dance.

Pink Floyd holds one of the top all-time slots for me, too. Never saw them "live", other than the few DVDs I've watched (and own).
For favorite all-time...I'd probably choose YES.
Concert performances in recent times though - would go to RUSH (Live in Rio - 2002).
Then again - there's TOOL, which I have a hard time imagining will ever be "bettered".

When i clicked on this post, i thought to myself, well it better be Pink Floyd ! Having Pink Floyd's music in my life and especially Roger Waters' music has been a complete privilage and i thank them from the bottom of my heart. Before i die, when i look back on my life, Pink Floyd's music will have been a huge part of it. There never have and never will be another like them. Roger Waters is just pure genius. Theres not a day goes by when i don't listen to him. I saw Pink Floyd in Paris in 92' saw Roger a few times on his Dark side of the Moon tour. And in Manchester last year "The Wall" which blew me away. I really don't get the beatles stuff, ive listened to them and there just an average pop band in my opinion, sure John pulled out a few good lyrics but nothing compared to Floyd.

saw Rush live a few years ago on the snakes and arrows tour, they played for almost 3 hours
amazing show. Floyd was before my time but i do enjoy listening to them. Without a doubt a very unique band who weren't afraid to try new and different things

I wasn't a Floyd fan, but saw Waters play about 12 years ago. Now, I see him every time he comes to town. A simply amazing show - you must see it!!!

Snakes & Arrows?
That must be a recent release.
Can't say I've kept up with them, entirely.
Was the music good on this one?

The best part about this thread is one simple fact:

Every last person knows who you're talking about just by reading the thread title.

Proof they are the best band of all time.

I have never seen Pink Floyd live but the best live bands I've seen are Rush, the Rolling Stones, and the Grateful Dead. As for Rush I saw them last year and they played the entire moving pictures album and a few new ones. they just released a new one and it's their best since moving pics. I would like to see the wall tour!

Many people have said the "insert band" is the greatest ever, and I sneered at every single claim, until now. You sir, have my undying respect.

Pink is definitely up there but no one and I mean no one has the Grateful dead topped. Not only is the music of not just the band but the entire scene extremely diverse but nobody else has such a massive following across multiple generations and even whole families. Also there's not another single band out there that has spawned a whole new way of life!

I don't have the album to be honest lol but from they songs they played live it sounded like pretty solid material. i went with my uncle who's a huge Rush fan and he loved the album so i would give it a listen.

sorry i kinda went off topic

Triumph was another great 3 man band!

I personally like them more than Rush.
