This is easily one of the most depressing threads on ATS, ever.

>Hurr hurr she went to a high class school

1. Scholarships

2. Good grades.

>Uses Breitbart.com as a source

*facepalm*

>They are in the white house they arent having it rough

Hence why the speech was about BEFORE THIS POINT IN TIME.

>Hurr hurr republicans hurr hurr democrats

We are still playing this game?

....

The sheer level of absurdity in this thread is confounding. All this arguing over a cherry picked speech on a site known to be run by a propagandist? People arguing over clothes she probably bought with her own money or was donated for advertisement? I expected this site to be about politics, not tabloid nonsense, as represented in this thread.

Romney's wife also gave a speech about how they struggled.
For a while they were both unemployed and forced to live of Mitten's investment interests.
Did ya miss the part about how much they paid for their furniture?

Breitbart.com?

No. Find a better source.
edit on 6-9-2012 by John Titor92 because: (no reason given)

and you can't find anything more to say?? laughable. If you actually read through the thread you will discover that I have cited a variety of sources regarding Michelle's upbringing. All the same information contained in the Breitbart article just more detail. Even a newsweek interview with Michelle herself... Funny how her story changes and contradicts itself. The Daily Mail ran a great piece regarding her fable back in 2008. I sourced that too!!

Nice try....

I really liked Biden's speech, it is one of the best I've heard in a while.

Obama's was pretty good too. But I really was shocked how moving Biden's speech was.

Though I' love Jesse Ventura's take on the lobbyist having too much influence.

I think Michelle is doing pretty good just to be the first black african american to make it in office. Though yes, she sure didn't have it as hard as others, she deserves to be respected I think,

Even getting a high class attorney job is not always easy being of a darker skin color.

I was listening to coast to coast this morning and I was struck by how a well qualified African American caller to the show got rejected for a job interview near were he lives, saying they were not doing any more hiring then the next day three whites were working there. So even for an up and coming African American I don't think it is always easy.

I like the comments about Michelle not being born into wealth, that she worked hard to get where she is, and we're all just mad / jealous. Yea, she worked hard. But as far as I'm concerned she also WAS born into wealth - how else can your parents afford to send you to some "elite private school", how else do you get into Harvard with "undistinguished credentials". Give me a break, it's no longer about what you know, it's all about who you know, and it's been that way for at least 10 years now, probably a lot longer.

As far as the stupid election goes, who cares? It doesn't make any difference.

I'll be happy when it's over and we don't have to hear about this crap over and over again every week if not daily.

I won't stand for it when a conservative lies.

This right here is what separates the Left from the Right.

When someone on the Right lies, cheat, does something immoral(my what the platform says not whether it is or isn't), steals, breaks the law etc...
When someone someone on the Right does the above the party turns on them like a pack of savage dogs.
Drives them out of office, or effectively politically neuters them until they either step down or lose their next primary because they couldn't get things done.

When someone on the Left does any of those things it's either ignored, or they are give a parade, a raise and more responsibility.
They may also be told "it's okay everyone lies, cheats etc...".
It's almost as if to be in the Left you have to be a bad person and share all your dirty secrets that way no one turns on you because if they do you have the dirt on them.
It's like the old Thieves, guilds from Medieval Europe, thick as thieves and they protect each other because if not you're going down with them.

I'm not saying the Right doesn't screw up, lie, cheat, steal.
It just seems to be the difference in the parties.
One tries to actively remove someone when caught the other ignores or rewards it.

That's not to say the Right doesn't ignore things too, they ignore it as long as it isn't public.
Once it become public though the Politician is screwed because everyone turns their backs.

That's the main difference IMO, both are corrupt one just turns on the corruption when it's found.

1. The auto industry and GM help build this country to greatness, America owed it to them. Look up GM's history and what they did to for America.
2. Half billion was not to make the volt that is a serious overstatement, it was to ensure GM didn't file bankruptcy.
3. The bailout created and saved millions of jobs

So yes Obama helped save the auto industry. The auto industry bail out is a big reason I will be voting for him again.

True( for the Chinese workers).
Here's your" millions of GM jobs saved"by U.S. bailouts:

Can't really blame GM though; that's where the burgeoning market is...
"Your welcome."
signed:
the U.S. taxpayers.

No, actually not true. The volt was designed and is built in American, along with all of their other America brands. GM has a whole other brand of cars they sell in China. Logistically, it would not make sense to build them here and ship them their when they are required to have a partnership to do business. (Look it up!)

China requires a 50/50 partnership with a Chinese company to do business in the Country. GM is currently number one in the world again. We should be proud that is an American Company and that WE as tax payers stand behind them.

I do not understand how I see all these people say they support America, and are patriotic, yet you drive a Honda or a Toyota. I am sorry but if you drive a foreign car, you are no patriot! GM cars have been the best I have ever owned and will only by American and more specifically GM!

Sadly it's the people hurting most who will buy every word of it. And they will once again be getting the short end of the stick. They won't fact check. They are the kinds of people who believe whatever they hear...correction, they believe whatever they WANT to hear.

Hard to take your facts as gospel when you cannot decipher the difference between 'their' and 'there'. And yes, that correlates with intelligence.

Furthermore, I would like my money to stand behind American companies that I, myself, choose to support, not the ones that Barack Obama tells me I should support. Or excuse me, the American companies HE decides I should support. I support companies that can run proper businesses.

Are YOU going to bail MY small business out with YOUR tax money if my American company fails? Are you going to reach into your wallet, be a 'patriot' and bail me out?

--Footnote: My 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix (a GM car) has had many more problems and has performed substantially worse than my 1996 Nissan Maxima that had twice the amount of miles. And the Pontiac is less fuel-efficient.

Point of order. Michelle did not make it to any office. She was not elected to anything.

I don't waste words - - - or "run around the issue" - - revisiting it from every angle trying to get someone to agree with me.

So no that doesn't have anythig to do with intelligence.

Real simple people. The Obama's income comes from us tax payers. Not from anything tangible.
The Romney's income was created by taking chances, starting a businesswhich EMPLOY people, which created more tax dollars. And investments. Oh.. how shameful! Hmmm.

Well I guess we will get what we paid for...

Or we can have someone who doesn’t need tax payer money because they are so wealthy they will just do it for what reason? What incentive? If they do not need to be paid and have nothing in common with everyday people why then would they want to take this position?

Seems Willard might be after his own agenda instead of the peoples…

Your small business does not bring millions of jobs to the US, your small business doesn't pay 25% of what GM pays in taxes. General Motors also supplies our Military as well. They have helped build tanks in the past, they partnered with NASA to create a Robot, I can go on and on.

To let GM go under would have been hammering the nails into our own coffins. What they bring to the US outways public opinion on if the government should have helped or not. Plus they have already paid the Goverment back! So it was a win, how could people still think this was a bad thing!

You won't find any actual newsworthy threads on ATS. It's no longer a conspiracy site either, but a tabloid one.

In other words, it has become a complete joke.
