Artist Exposes Freaky Google Street View Pics

Yes, we've all seen them, but this guy must have spent days, if not weeks ploughing through Street View to find some 'golden' moments

Canadian artist Jon Rafman is an unusual photographer – he explores Google Street Views and takes screenshots of the most incredible sights here. From a toddler left on street to a tiger roaming near a convenience store – “with its supposedly neutral gaze, the Street View photography had a spontaneous quality unspoiled by the sensitivities or agendas of a human photographer,” says Jon.

Wow the first photo is sort of creepy with the two seemingly same old men. He claims it is his art so is it actual street views or did he overlay different pictures.

They're just screen shots, going on the little bio in the article.

Pretty clever idea.

I'd have to say the two old men who look the same are probably the same old man. The google vehicle probably got two pictures of him several seconds apart, and when the images are stitched together it looks like two old men. You can see evidence of the stitching in the one with the girl jumping off the bridge into the river, where the rail doesn't line up. I'd also bet the few pictures of people in masks and whatnot are probably staged. They probably noticed the google van and managed to get ahead of it with props.

The baby left in front of the Gucci store is highly disturbing and a completely different topic. All I can think of is where are the parents?!

This one here is one to have fun speculating as to what happened.

I'm going with cops involved....looks like one sticking out to the right, there appears to be a license plate in the dusty center of the pic. The two people to the rights reaction makes me think cop chase of some sorts...crazy!

WTF is this all about!!


Interesting pics for sure. I did read in the comments the tiger is a statue placed in some plaza. It's done I guess to mess with people which it obviously did!

I was thinking that they were twins. It's not that uncommon for twins to dress in the same clothes.

You could be right though - they have to 'stitch' the shots together somehow.

i cant think of the place but there is a guy dressed as bobba fett chilling in his garden,was pretty strange unless he knew they were coming,

also there was a competion in the uk to find the stig off topgear to win a car,he was at loch ness.

Haha i think the kid falling on the bike is the funniest. But the one with the guy in the gas mask is kinda creepy.

Over all those photos are disturbing. So much violence/guns. Who are those people in the masks and what are they doing? My favorite is the Monarch Butterfly, I love them any way and what are the odds Google would catch one in flight like that? I also love the one you do OP, the rock house. I love rocks and that is just so cute, I want to live there!

Those masks freak me out.

I wonder how many other interesting photos are on google street view. If I'm ever bored enough maybe I'll look lol

Nothing would blow that sucker down, especially with the added wind shield on both sides

I love stone/rock houses too. In fact I just really resonate with rocks and stones in general.

Occasionally when I go up in to the bush near my house to meditate I will find a large boulder to sit on that I feel will help me with my practice. I ask it's permission first of course.

I found the one of the person crouching in the bushes with the gas mask on really got me thinking...perhaps preparing to 'bug out' sometime soon....

And the one where people are rushing out the door to a fire...talk about catching the moment!...LOl

LOL...having spent a good portion of my life in wooded Northern California...I'd say he's checking a water pipe on a planted section of national forests. I've seen similar, hiking in the redwood forests along the coast. They lay the pipes from running creeks and streams to water *crops*. The gas mask? Some of those crops put out a pretty heady aroma...

Thank you for sharing. I like this stuff, so I had seen some. But for there is a bengal tiger walking through a parking lot, next to a freeway. Obviously escaped.
