Yeah, I agree that Bush won this one. Bush was beating him anyway but Kerry really put it away with the comment about the VP's lesbian daughter. It was such an obvious calculated cheapshot that even the most die hard democrat must have felt chills when he said it. That was just bad karma and I think it will end up burning Kerry/Edwards badly.

I am talking about their answers to questions like abortion, God, and leadership. In those bush spoke, it seemed, from his heart. Kerry spoke what he thought the voters wanted to hear.

You see it too? I've always thought that Kerry's speeches are "hollow". Bush talks with genuine feeling.

p.s. He won the debate tonight.

I'll agree with you on that. Kerry tried to corner President Bush on the border issue and all the president had to say is that he's from Texas and he knows it's more secure although not 100%. One thing that confounds me is, if Kerry knows 4000 illegals are getting into the U.S. everyday, why arn't they stopping it? And where does he get these figures from?

I love the way Kerry did not come out and use the word amnesty but then said that he was for giving illegals already living here who have not gotten into trouble a way to become citizens quickly. THAT is amnesty.

So, although you are ILLEGALLY in our Country, as long as you don't break any OTHER laws, Kerry will help you become a citizen.

We have terror cells already living in our Country and Kerry wants to make them citizens. How does that make sense?

Bush won the debate, had Kerry on defense. What is with Edwards, now Kerry bringing up Cheney's lesbian daughter? Low class.

Bush showed a vision for the next 4 years, he improved education, now it is time to improve social security. Kerry continues to play Monday morning quarterback.

Bush won?!?
OMG the guy is a "boob" Lord knows what will happen to the once Great USA if he is re-elected. My God the guy cannot form a sentence!
I once lived in the States and am sure glad and thank God I don't live there any more.
Don't worry I gladly handed over my "Green Card" and will never look back. Thank God for dual citizenship, my children are safe from this ID-10-T error.
I am sorry to say the days of glory are over for the US as long as they have that "warhawk" Bush in command.
Lets everyone open their eyes and see the light.
"Wake up and smell the coffee."
Need I say more! Don't think so.

The world has a hatred for the US that is totally misguided and irrational but seems to be justified what with the "invasion" of Iraq for their good etc.
Its all about the precious OIL.
Bush is like the freaky guy on Lord of the Rings.
"My precious, my precious... Wake up. it will run out, THEN what!?!?
Think about it.

doing what the people want and being swayed by their opinions?

Or

doing what you want and believe, regardless of what the people want and their opinions?

anyone?

Did I get lost in the shuffle?? anyone??? I would really like to hear an opinion. I believe I am truly an "undecided" voter and it will come down to me standing in the booth to make a decision (unlike O'Reilly who claims to be undecided)

I reckon Kerry made a mess of of the last question instead of saying how much his wife and kids ment to him he went on about what his mum had told before she died "Integrity Integrity Integrity " that may be true but he seemed to leave his wife and Kids as an afterthought.

the concluding statement from the NBC anchor: "It takes a lot of courage to run for President".

On that point, I commend BOTH George W. Bush and John Kerry.

I doubt a good number of posters would give Kerry even that. I knew that political attacks were allowed - but I didn't know a candidate could be reviled as a person at such a point that you wonder why some people don't call for Kerry to go to the electric chair...

Blew me away when he said that too. I can't believe anyone would want to make someone a citizen when they're here illegally in the first place!

I think Kerry blew this debate! Not that I wanted hin to do good.

Bush won!

I think the most important dynamic an elected official should be capable of exercising is the ability to follow the will of the people while being steeled by their convictions. Most of the time it's a good idea to follow the "mandate", but occasionally a decision must be made where there is no good or easy "answer". This is what separates good leaders from great leaders, and why I feel comfortable with Bush and nervous about Kerry.

p.s. Please stop changing your Avatars, your swaying my opinion.

Kerry just about told Bush where to stick it. Well deserved. Kerry is clearly speaking from his gut, while Bush gets a blank look (not the earpiece again..please..) as if trying to come up with something not readily attainable in his head and heart.
Bush is a boob, unpresidential, sleezy and those are his good points.

Grady - wasn't that with Carter in 1980?

MODERATOR: Mr. Trewhitt, your question to President Reagan?

REPORTER: Mr. President, I want to raise an issue that I think has been lurking out there for two or three weeks, and cast it specifically in national security terms. You already are the oldest President in history, and some of your staff say you were tired after your most recent encounter with Mr. Mondale. I recall, yes, that President Kennedy, who had to go for days on end with very little sleep during the Cuba missile crisis. Is there any doubt in your mind that you would be able to function in such circumstances?

REAGAN: Not at all, Mr. Trewhitt and I want you to know that also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience. If I still have time, I might add, Mr. Trewhitt, I might add that it was Seneca or it was Cicero, I don't know which, that said if it was not for the elders correcting the mistakes of the young, there would be no state.

...and the winner of the Third 2004 Presidential Debate is (drumroll please)...

...all 3rd Party candidates that were not allowed to attend!

The Republican and Democratic parties have come across as totally worthless, so I applaud all those that were not allowed to attend the debates...they are the true winners!

Kerry seemed to be very cordial this time around and Bush was more confident. That said, I think that it was a Bush win on the fact that Kerry didnt win outright.

Otherwise it was a draw,

Bush's best line was that Kennedy was the most conservative from Taxxachesetts! That was slick.

Grady - thank you, I wasn't sure.

I think the Reagan moment with Carter was "there you go again..."

Kerry won. He appealed to the working and middle class much better and offered a vision for the future. I think he had it in the bag with the minimum wage argument, bush didn't know what to say coz his administration won't raise it and just give more money to the corporations.

thanks,

Standing by the principles that got one elected is most important. That's why we elect leader and not pollsters.
