not entirely sure i understand the relevance of your post.

are you trying to call me stupid and or stubborn because i understand and value correct grammar and you obviously don't?

saying something incorrectly can completely change its meaning from what you intended....

DENYING ignorance does not mean the same thing as EXPOSING or REFUTING ignorance.

the correct meanings of words you use are important otherwise you'll just end up puzzling people as to what you are trying to say or talking about

de·ny (d-n)
tr.v. de·nied, de·ny·ing, de·nies
1. To declare untrue; contradict.
2. To refuse to believe; reject.
3. To refuse to recognize or acknowledge; disavow.
4.
a. To decline to grant or allow; refuse: deny the student's request; denied the prisoner food or water.
b. To give a refusal to; turn down or away: The protesters were determined not to be denied.
c. To restrain (oneself) especially from indulgence in pleasures.

so on this site we're all 'REFUSING TO BELIEVE' Ignorance are we?

that's pretty weird. why would you want to refuse to believe someone's ignorance? wouldn't it be better to expose ignorance?, CONFRONT ignorance, REFUTE ignorance?

i mean not to nitpick, but it just bugs me....

also 'ignorance' means you do not know or are not aware of something

refusing to believe or declaring to be untrue someone's ignorance is kind of an ungrammatical way of putting it...

you cann refuse to believe or declare untrue someone's BELEIFS or OPINIONS about things
but not their IGNORANCE that makes no sense...

just saying... what do they teach kids in schools these days about grammar?

that little phrase has never made any sense to me.

Same here. I never got the meaning myself, I find denying ignorance is the main problem, no?

Example....

Ignorant Fool: "Our gov't would NEVER do something like 9/11 or Oklahoma City bombing, that's just disrespectful and anti-American!"

ME: "Well..... I'm going to deny your ignorance of reality and let you alone with your thoughts, have a wonderful day!"

Doesn't make much sense to me, or to you I guess.

exactly!!!! it has the OPPOSITE meaning to that intended by the site i imagine.

when you deny your own or someone else's ignorance, you're just part of the problem.

the site is really about EXPOSING peoples' ignorance of things....not denying it....

okay i'm gonna go now....

No, I just don't think you have quite the grasp on grammar as you think you do.

Deny Ignorance.

Ignorance is born from being uninformed.

ATS strives to inform and educate, as such, it's denying Ignorance the chance to take hold.

Why did you create a thread to argue semantics?

because it's important. i'd bet i did a lot better at grammar than you did...

denying your own or someone's ignorance is a bad thing. being in denial about something means failing to confront it or exposing it.

it doesn't mean what you're attempting to make it mean. it says DENY not denyING.... i.e. we DENY ignorance. it's the same as saying we say ignorance doesn't exist. weird.

but whatever.... i cant be bothered arguing anymore.

it worries me cuz this site is mean to be a conspiracy site but it's advising people to 'deny ignorance'

whatever....its just a strange way of putting things & its always bugged me.

The beauty of the phrase is that it can be taken both ways. It's a kind of joke. Here you have all these people on ATS strutting their stiff and suggesting everyone ELSE (The sheeple, etc.) doesn't understand Capital-R Reality, whereby the people of ATS are somehow gifted with a super power and actually DO understand Capital-R Reality.

The joke is that people here actually do believe that they are smarter, more aware, more plugged-in, and more insightful than everyone else,

when a case could be made that...

they are more paranoid, more delusional, more excitable, more ignorant, and more easily duped by any snake-oil conspirator that comes around than you average, umm, sheeple.

So,

"Deny ignorance" and "Deny your own ignorance" both fit. It's not an either/or proposition. And while we decry the MSM as establishment pawns, they describe ATS as "a cranky conspiracy site."

Cranky. Go figure......

See my posts on this thread; here and here. They cover what I think deny ignorance means and why people chant it.
