Wow!

I cannot believe some people would talk about their fellow man and their state as if they are some kind of dreadful animals...

If people do not have anything nice to say, why say it at all? Please hold yourself back from saying you hope people die. I just can't believe sometimes the juvenile mind and how it works!

The rest of California seems to be adjusting ( central Cali just had two back to backs 3.5) , it's still a wait and see kind of thing in my view. It's concerning to see so much energy be released in such a short period of time.

You have to remember, they took a lot of the oil and gas out of the fault areas in California. The removal of these fuels could possibly reduce damage caused by a larger earthquake. This is a theory of mine which as far as I know has never been researched. I don't think everything we do is bad. I wish they would take the extra time and money to do the job more ECO-friendly though. We don't need to deplete all our fuel resources before switching to solar energy either. Save some for rainy days and quit wasting it so much.

The Earth has a " system" just like we do.

The nature of our earth is self sustaining. Humans have had their hands all in her and what they are doing goes against the nature of the planet itself.

The laws that govern systems are in place for a reason.

Just my two cents. :-)

Idk much about oil and gas exploration... so I can't share a founded opinion on this one. But I think that in the case of EQ we are talking about incommensurable natural forces… And local ground deposits (or the absence of those) shouldn’t play a significant role, on the regional scale, for the propagation of those forces/stresses.
Not saying locally (in small area). IMO
edit on 29-8-2012 by voyger2 because: (no reason given)

This is my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

I very much agree with your "Two Cents". when something needs balancing nature balances it. Even it it means catastrophic change!
California is some of the most beautiful land in the world and a huge part of the US economy and food production. We sure will suffer if the country has any more large disasters it effects all the country!

I've lived in California for most of my life. As bad as you think people on this site are, they will let you speak freely...except for the trolls. California is much, much worst. The democrats in Arizona aren't that bad, all though I'm still a Republican California Democrats are like animals!

Speaking free is one thing saying you wish for millions of the same people on here with you to die is another. Speaking of Trolls.

This info comes from the same experts that said it would last up to a week.
This is the largest swarm ever to hit the area and it was also followed by a large eq in another area over a longer period of time. Another first.
Yes there has been a couple swarms of a couple hundred eq in that area but that is not what we had here.
Maybe you missed the title of the thread.

California QuakesCalifornia Quakes

In the last 24hrs the aftershocks have been further and further apart. Swarms like this release energy slowly, not all at once with a few strong aftershocks which is far more devastating. Do some research on the subject before tossing
out fear mongering opinions. I live within 10 miles of the mighty San Andreas Fault and feel small tremors from time to time. No worry's mates just another day in paradise.

California sucks, you say Arizona is racist. But you are communist. You don't let anyone else have a different opinion and you "crucify" them if you don't agree with you. The Big One is coming, since you don't belive in GOD...please don't blame anyone else but yourself OK? California Karma = California EQ

ALL I can say is YOU are just STUPID...DORK DUMB....STUPID
You don't live here...I DO and So Cali is GREAT..

I'm doing the research and i'm trying to follow your statements but what is slow and not all at once about 500 plus eq's in 3 days?

If your trying to say that a 6 plus mag eq is not likely in that area i can buy that unless we start seeing what we seen in the begining of this swarm.
In other words if the next swarm in that area comes in 20 or 30 years then i see your point.
However if things begin to shake again there any time soon then i believe it could get real bad.

What stood out the most to me was how all eq activity around the world ceased while pressure was released there and then we had the 7.7 at the end of the swarm.

There are way to many factors involved to just not be aware and ready.

Just be careful, the ATS agents are watching, I too live in California, quakes must seem scary to others who do not
live here. How one can be so afraid of the "big one" is beyond me. It will happen in my life time or not. Life in California goes on and i enjoy the perks every day.

Worldwide quakes did not stop during this activity, look at the world map at the link and where and when was this 7.7?

Anyone notice the recent EQs in the Sequoia National Forest near Sherman Peak. About 40 miles due east is the Coso Volcanic Field. The Coso Volcsnic field is similar to the Salton Sea with both mud pots and geothermal power. The Devils Kitchen infact is its name. It's also linked with close by China Lake Wepons Station.
Souce

Bubbling mudpots are abundant in the Coso Hot Springs on the eastern margin of the Coso volcanic field. The hot springs occur along faults at the margins of a horst capped by rhyolitic rocks and are associated with fumaroles, mudpots, and widespread areas of hydrothermally altered ground.

A cooperative program of the U.S. Navy China Lake Naval Weapons Station and private industry has developed geothermal power at the Coso volcanic field. The first well was drilled in 1981 and production now exceeds 250 megawatts, greatly reducing energy costs to the Navy and providing additional electricity to the southern California power grid. This view from the NW shows turbine plants and production well ponds at Coso. Devils Kitchen, a fumarolic area with extensively hydrothermally altered ground, appears at the upper right.

Perhaps the swarms are making their way up California.

It could be that mans obsession with wasting the oil and natural gas actually has a reason for being. Noone knows the actual script of our existence, not even me. I know that gas and oil reserves are most often near fault lines. They may lubricate the faults and let things slide smoothly or they may power faults and make earthquakes more devastating. I do not know the answer to this but can speculate. Either way there is no excuse for our destroying the ecosystem to get these things. Fracking of the earth on so large a scale as has been done lately is crazy and greedy and these companies and their investors are paying the price by loosing profits. I am glad the price dropped and hope these greedy people loose everything they have. Pockets of gas near faultlines can be dangerous but I doubt if stuff trapped in shale will be. No control and they are releasing too many toxins into the environment at one time. What happened to reason in this world.

35 minutes ago, 1.4 within 20 miles of my house in the San Bernardino Mountains, didn't feel it.
