Ron Paul has been disrespected by the Republican Party and I just had a random thought that maybe he should be offered a cabinet position in the Obama Administration.
My first thought would be something in the Health and Human Services as he is a doctor.

This might sound crazy at first , but in my opinion there's a lot to be gained including , quite frankly, the votes of non-Neocon non-Social conservative parts of the Republican party.

I will be voting for OBAMA this election as a hyper wealthy, 1%er, tax-questionable, say anything cult member is just not my cup of tea.

For all my "lefty" tendencies Ron Paul makes sense on war, personal liberty etc......
I agree with many libertarian philosophies but i will NEVER give my vote to the so called "moral majority".
I probably would've voted for Ron Paul over Obama if he got the nomination.

I don't post all that much here , but have been lurking for years and have started a post or two.

Personally I agree with Ron Paul on:
War
The drug war
Personal Liberty
Gun control
Finance reform
An ACTUAL free market, if such a thing is possible

I don't think Obama is so far off on these things at least, and having someone as intelligent as Ron Paul in the cabinet couldn't hurt.
Feel free to discuss as maybe there are many things I may have overlooked.

Even if he offered it RP wouldn't take it. RP wouldn't compromise his principles to do what Obama wants he wouldn't do it for the GOP so he sure as hell wouldn't do it for the Dems.

Sorry friend, Obama's not that smart and Paul's not that stupid.

On a side note, Paul won't endorse Romney, what makes you think for even a second he would work for Democrats? He said during his campaign if offered a VP pick from MR, he would turn it down. Paul wants to run the show, he's tired of the morons in DC, so he either wants to run it all, or he wants the hell out.

I get that he's a man of principle but he'd be working for THE COUNTRY which should supercede party affiliations.
I don't think he'd expect to get everything he wanted but having a voice from the opposite party is good for discussion and dialogue. It would give him a chance to get some things done perhaps at least in the areas I mentioned.......

Ya, if Obama had any testicles he would remove Bernanke and BEG Ron Paul to run the Fed.

Exactly. That would be start at least.
Perhaps I'm too idealist thinking people could work together with a "best of" from both sides.

Even if he did, I still wouldn't vote for him. And I doubt a lot of Ron Paul supporters would either. I'm still deciding on Paul or Gary Johnson.

Maybe you're right. Like I said, just a thought.
In my estimation , ANYTHING is better than Neocon-Social Conervatism, so I seem to be left in the R vs D paradigm........

The great thing about Ron Paul is the man is like a sponge, like tofu. You ask 100 Paul supporters what Ron Paul would do given X circumstance, you'll get 100 different answers. That's his appeal, he means a thousand different things to a thousand different people.

One might tell you that Ron Paul would not accept a cabinet position, he wouldn't allow his beliefs and ethics to be co-opted by the president. But Ron Paul had no problem letting that happen at the hands of alleged ghost writers.

The truth is, Ron Paul is an enigma. Only Ron Paul knows what Ron Paul truly believes, like any other politician everything he says is a lie. You need only remember the newsletter fiasco and his various excuses over the years to see how facetious the man is.

Either he's monumentally stupid for letting those words go out, written from his perspective, in his name, while at the same time trying to pursue a political career. Or he's a racist.

He's bamboozled thousands of young idealists to become unquestioning supporters, at their own peril.

Wow,
I wasn't expecting that one but appreciate your thoughts.
My brother always says:

I expect my post to stir the pot a little, Ron Paul's supporters are very passionate to say the least. And I'm passionate about letting them know that they're being made to look like fools by a politician who doesn't give one damn about them.

I don't know that hes THAT disingenuous.
Especially compared to other politicians......
Then again maybe you know something I don't .
I'm not a super Ron Paul supporter or anything , nor am I that into any politician currently available......
There doesn't seem to be a whole lotta choices out there.

Punks

All of you are so caught up in your normally unfounded
Obama slams, that no one picked a cabinet position
in this hypothetically interesting thread?

I think he should appoint him Secretary of Defense
and then we would all drip in gold from the left over funds.

I tend to think that given the ability to do anything at will, Obama would lessen the drug war, lessen unnecessary wars in general, and control finance giants better than Mitt would.......
And as far as personal liberty:
Pro choice
Pro gay rights
Not antithetical to 2nd Amendment
Reform of drug laws........

are these all things he can say openly....no. Its a "from what I can gather " set of ideas so maybe I'm wrong.
But Mitt and company:
Antichoice
Hardline on drug war
Pro War
Anti gay rights
Anti porn
Lip service to gun lobby only..........

just my 2 cents but......

I totally agree. Ron Paul would rocket the currently obsolete and futile Democratic party into action. His ideas (especially isolationism and freewill) are exactly what will vault any kind of change forward. Ron Paul is the ideal fulcrum between the neocon(servatives) and the ultra-liberals.

It would be cool to see Obama, stump for Ron Paul, as our next President.

Just cause I would like to see what he would do as a President.

Obama, and Romney?

One and the same.
