Words cannot decribe how powerful this video was to me, I really enjoyed it and it really felt like it connected with men on a deeper level. Alan Watts was an amazing man, and the supporting video editing is just amazing.. It is once again by my favourite youtube user TragedyandHope. I will say no more. Enjoy!

Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter.

Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to The Way of Zen (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In Psychotherapy East and West (1961), Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not just a religion. Like Aldous Huxley before him, he explored human consciousness in the essay, "The New Alchemy" (1958), and in the book, The Joyous Cosmology (1962).

Thanks for that really beautiful video, it was a great start to my morning. It helps to be reminded of these things, to know the "bigger picture". it is easy to get trapped in the microcosm of my daily life, so sometimes, i need to be reminded of things like this. It puts things into a different perspective. S&F!

I really liked what he said about imagining if you were to go to sleep.

I do not know about y'all but when I sleep I dream, and my dreams are sometimes very strange, very pleasant and on occasion very scary. I always wondered if when we die, do we enter a dream state. If we do, what kind of dream will we have? Will it feel real? Will we think we are still alive? Will the dream be good or bad?

The thought of a black room does not scare me either. I imagine it to be very calm. Like when I am in a heavy sleep and do not dream at all. That is the best sleep for me, so if death is just like this, why would I fear it?

A lot to ponder this morning! More coffee is needed!

I think that it might be time to put together a thread that challenges this "you are not just you, but you are all that is" philosophy. That, and the "kill off your self if you want to transcend and not be left behind this year" mantra is a very dangerous trend that may be masking a much darker agenda. Let me see if I can get my presentation together for this. It definitely deserves its own thread.

Alan Watts does not propose killing off the you... his discussions explore recognizing that you are not simply JUST you. He's pretty emphatic that from his perspective it's finding the balance between recognizing yourself as Everything and the Individual at the same time. Similar to if a skin cell were to become self aware realizing that it is both a Human and a Skin Cell.

Damn... wrong account! hah
