Found this very ROFL.

To the guys videoing, sorry you didn't get the encounter you were looking for. But a major high-five for being cool enough to put the video out anyway.

Sorry, it's not a youtube vid, it's on Chive. Might be on youtube as well, not sure - but I can't embed it because of that.

Anyway, quick description: Two kids are walking around with a weapon that looks to be a mimic of a SWAT auto-assult rifle.

Cops respond to concerned citizen call and approach the guys. They're videoing (of course) trying to get one of these "bad cops acting bad" videos that are out there.

Instead, they got a clinic on why being a punk kid and assuming all cops are butt-heads is wrong.

In the end, the cop actually invites them to come learn HOW to shoot a fully automatic weapon at one of their classes.

So much for the "Police State" eh?

With no further ado:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

and I agree the cop was the epitome of what a police officer SHOULD be and the two guys were disrespectful morons that were fishing for a bad time to put on you tube for drama...

Wow, that really says something for cops, doesn't it?

They got it right for once, and it is big news!

Look at us guys, we did our job the way it is supposed to be done! Can we have a parade?

As much as I love the videos of cops being made to look foolish and evil in regard to the law, this one also made a strong impression. Very nice. As was mentioned, that really is the type of officer this country needs. Toward the end I got a good laugh at the pathetic kid trying to stumble his way back toward confrontation, but succeeding only in making himself look more ridiculous.

It's refreshing to see a police officer who doesn't think he's God.

Yes! Your right...1 video does give proof that there is no police state....

So much for all those 1000's of video'd that prove differently.

I don't think this puts to bed the "bad cop" issue but it is definitely a good idea to show appreciation to the "good cops" out there because it positively reinforces that behavior.

Reducing police brutality is a battle that should be fought on two fronts. 1) Identifying the bad cops and making examples out of them by holding them to the same laws that they enforce and actually follow through in holding them accountable. 2) appreciation, praise, and positive reinforcement to the good cops that don't abuse their power.

yes, the cops are just like the movies.

the cops were the good guys in TDKR. it taught us that if you are against the cops you are the same as an escaped criminal. you are with the cops or you are a bad evil person.

keep swallowing the propoganda whether its a hollywood movie or an internet video.

Props to the officer for doing an outstanding job.

I couldn't help but wonder if this is a result of the many videos being posted on YouTube and elsewhere. Whether this was initiated from higher up or just this officer, this is how it should be.

I think, too, that what he pulled from his pocket was an audio recorder. I happen to have one myself about that size. Probably a good idea in case there's any question about what was said. I think every officer should be required too carry a recorder and have it on whenever they interact with a citizen.

eta: Found the video on YT.

He guy recording needs to learn the difference between a frisk and a search. If he went a bit farther he would know even a lawfully possessed weapon can be checked by law enforcement during a valid / legal encounter for officer safety.

Aside from that im imrepssed by the way both sides reacted to each other.

As I have stated us vs. them, them vs. us does nothing to resolve the issues. All that mindset does is increase paranoia on both sides.

In this case communication occurred and the officer spent the extra time to explain his actions as well as his justification. As irritatiung as some of these encounters can be (on both sides) at least the guys recording have taken the time to actually learn about the consitution, their rights etc etc etc.

Its more than most people would do.

Thanks for posting.

Nice. Now they need this guy to train tens of thousands more like him!

Oh, and one comment about the "cop haters" term...

I don't hate law enforcement. I fear them. Big difference.

It's clear the less interaction one has with law enforcement, the healthier you remain.

I wish it wasn't that way, but for whatever reason, it is.

Facts are facts.
