I found this article on CBC News and found it quite interesting. I searched and only found something similar in Australia last year. Thought I would share.

" target='_blank' class='tabOff'/>

"Imagine personal flight as intuitive as riding a bike," reads the firm's website. "Or transporting a small fleet of first-responder craft in the belly of a passenger transport. Think of the advantages of patrolling borders without first constructing roads."

Link to CBC article

The link includes a video.

Imagine all that can be accomplished by this technology.

What are your thoughts ATS?

seen this on yahoo, there could be many use's and improvements

one it should/could use plasma which would increase speed past 40mpg

if speeds get faster they would be good for law enforcement and they could even make a sport around it

wonder what the range is on it? could be great to have an all terrain wagon full of all your survival needs following you that you dont need to physically carry yourself meaning you can get out of a SHTF zone faster with more gear than just lugging it manually and cursing every bump in the terrain trying to drag a sled

So, you bump into something, fly off the seat, and land where? That's right, in the spinning blades.

Why not just make a smaller helicopter which is faster, safer, goes higher, instead of reinventing the wheel.

I can see this being useful for getting around large empty areas like deserts, but bring this thing to a populated area and people will go nuts with all the noise and dust everywhere.

It's the future, they promised me antigrav!!

Obviously there is a lot of room for improvements....A LOT!!!!!

There are likely many safety issues regarding flying debris and the rotating blades......and What happens if you get a bird in the head?
Must hurt like a b...

It will probably take many years for this thing to go from prototype to the market for the general public.

But I also would love to give it a go....there is a golf course 200 metres from my house. I could use it as a golf kart.....

Can it be used as a lawn mower or seed spreader? Can it be used as a leaf blower? I would have a lot of problems selling the idea of this kind of purchase to the wife with a pricetag like that.

Only 15 feet off the ground???

Solidifies my belief they will never offer mass produced consumer type air vehicles. Folks flying these would need some sort of "pilot's license".

They just cannot afford to have anyone flying these anywhere they want to go. This would be a perfect tool for a terrorist or someone looking to crash 1000 tons of TNT into a packed football stadium or something along those lines.

There is wayyyy too much risk involved in mass producing and improving operational capabilities of these types of exotic vehicles.

Like all hover projects its , to loud , to unstable , to big , to dangerous and produces so much down force of air it would knock anyone or anything over that was standing close to it.

A hover vehicle will never be used on normal roads or for every day transport.

You are right on that one!! It would be a huge risk if you look at it from that perspective.. I think we are decades if not centuries away from Back to the future kinda cars....if we ever do get those that is!

Good effort in VTOL front .

I would of used Fanwing technology to achieve something similar .

I have built a VTOL Fanwing prototype in the past .

5 horse power Futuba engine , 6.35 mt wingspan , takeoff weight 120 kilograms only with 1200 rpm.

This particular prototype can be imporeved by replacing the propellers with mini jets .

Noise will be the biggest problem i suppose .
