While i share your enthusiasm, and fully agree with the state of earthly affairs. I think its just the sheer magnitude of complacency and bad stewardship that really amazes me. They didn't think enough of it back then to consider it being a problem down the road.

Another fine example of to much thinking about whether or not they can, and not thinking about whether or not they should.

Sometimes i think people are really trying to cover up the fact that all they really want to do is make a true to life Godzilla.....and wont be happy until we're irradiated enough for that to happen.

Next time we fly, we may have to buckle up for Mothra related turbulance.......

You know, we're all taught as kids not to play with balls in the house, etc.
Yeah.... some kids just don't F# learn!
and we're supposed to respect and look up to our elders, well, most of us here know the farce of those ideals. (no matter age, respect is earned not demanded.)
Our earth does not demand our respect, she has earned it and deserves every nanometre of it.
You know, of all the new age hubbub about 2012..... if anything I hope this year is about breaking down barriers of corruption and elitism, and the death of ego-centricity.. we really need to understand that every hopefull iota is worth more than complaisance; for a better world.

I couldn't agree more, we are so seperated from what we were meant to be that we have lost sight of our place in nature.

The earth is gonna keep on keepin on with or without us. It is up to us to bring about what our true purpose is all about...and it's not about this crap zone we've created for ourselves. While i find it hard to think that we are single handedly destroying this planet, because I feel that the earth does what is does on its own in addition to us. I must say we are leaving quite an impression to say the least.

We reap what we sow. And our children and their children are going to have to pay the biggest price for our short sightedness. Which is a crime in itself......because to me....children are the very definition of love.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this....and many other instances like it that are currently threatening the way we live for the future.

So I take it we now have to worry about a nuclear tsunami too? Wouldnt that make a great cheesy catastrophe movie?

Its kinda scary to think that an atoll might split in half and not only create a possible tsunami, but also release nuclear waste everywhere. Well it just goes to show that the US is not the only country that has dark secrets.

The Atoll will collapse in on itself because it's on a fault line. I'm not sure whether that will cause a tsunami or not but it's all scarey to contemplate.

Nope, France stopped the underground nuclear testing in 1996 (for info, USA stopped in 1990).

A very nice video, summarising on a map all the nuclear testings done in the world (totally 2053):
www.youtube.com...

When I see this video, I have the feeling that Tchernobyl & Fukushima ar probably not the worst things that happened to us.

Wonder if the same methodology was implemented in the Japan Tsunami...
ie: intentional...

I just was looking it up on Google maps and they have half of it blocked out from view when in close zoom.

Google maps

I wonder what else they're hiding?

Maybe not, but it certainly fits with what may happen when a nuke goes off deep under a island creating pressure along a fault line.

Good premise....

Except fallout from a nuclear bomb is different than fallout from a nuclear power plant.

This could happen at any moment to every major city on the face of the earth, and take place in as little as 72 hours:

Well, if there is a heaven, not many people are going to get in because we trashed this paradise so badly they won't trust us to be in their place. I won't be in hell, the barren wasteland we are creating, alone when I die.
