What appears good value is tap water marked up 2,500 per cent

I've bought this water from ASDA before and I just assumed it was tap water. All it says is "Still Water", doesn't say "Spring Water" or anything of the sort. If you're going to be stupid enough to assume something is a product that it's not even claiming to be, then that's your own fault. And I thought 17p for two litres wasn't bad considering the convenience they offer on camping trips or just something to have in the boot of your car for emergencies. After all, they have to bottle it, transport it, pay the staff, pay the bills...people seem to think all that comes for free.

I don't see the problem. I buy their cheapest water because that's what I want - cheap water I can throw in the back of the car and use when I want.

Sure, I could take it from the tap myself, but I'm too lazy.

What do people expect for 17p ?

I'm not sure the about the regulations across the pond, but New York has the cleaner water then Poland spring, Dasani, Evian, Etc. The reason you still buy them is for the convenience of being able to drink it and throw it away. It;' simpler to just buy a bottle of water while you are out and about than to carry around a canteen.

Depends on your state here in the us, but there are various regulations about this, some very very laxed.

As an example, I do not buy bottle water bottled in CA, as it didn't cross state lines so the regulation on it is almost nothing.

Anything bottled out of state has to meet certain standards to be sold in ca (really stupid its not done for water bottled in the state)

So if your in ca, and your waters bottled here, its from the tap. ( or it might as well be)

Ive used an industrial grade water filter (For my garden) it was a small thing to upgrade it to provide water to the house as well.

the hole point of buy bottled water is because its natural spring water with out chemicals, female hormones, and fluoride .it would be less than 17p to fill a bottle from the tap

Bahhh... Bottled Water is generally the greatest scam ever devised. If I told my Grandfather when I was a kid that someday I'd pay $2 for a bottle of water, he'd have smacked me silly and called me the example for the 'fool and his money' statement.

Despite the fact the joke about it spelled backward probably came out the same day the first bottle did, people still by Evian and I am sure, still give the bottlers an endless laugh whenever they really stop to think about what they named a best selling bottle of....water.

Agreed and thats why MOST people buy it. People now assume bottled water is clean and dont bother reading the labels, and the companies mentioned are now making huge profits because people assume they dont need to reed the label. It borders on deception.

No, the WHOLE point of bottled water is as a convenience. If you paid $2.00 for a bottle, you did so at a convenience store and it has been chilled, which is sometimes worth the $2.00. You can buy a whole flat of 24 for $3.00, of course. Any "spring water freshness and purity" is cancelled out by plastic ploymers from the bottles anyway.

Agreed! BPA,, is very bad for us. It isn't just in plastic bottles either, they use it to line most of the canned goods we buy today as well...

Cool! It has been proven that tap water is superior to bottled water. If an idiot wants to spend his own $ on an expensive product that he can get free...well, that's his right!

This doesn't suprise me one bit, I have always thought of bottled water to be one of the biggest cons of the 20th century!

Although of course I do see where bottled water can be useful or even life saving....
