Why doesn't the press slam Biden as a raving idiot and destroy him like they did Palin? Not only that, but Obama has been totally ignoring the press and yet they STILL give him a total pass on a litany of issues, where they did go after Bush even though he was know for often "schmoozing" with them.

To me this is the obvious out come when your press is comprised of left wing democrat activists posing as real journalists.

FNC's Powers Sees 'Glaring' Media 'Double Standard' on Biden Gaffes

On Saturday's Fox News Watch, as the group discussed the media's tepid attention to Vice President Joe Biden's "chains" gaffe, panel member and left-leaning FNC analyst Kirsten Powers asserted that "There is a glaring media standard, no question about it."

After noting that there was a similar double standard in Biden and Sarah Palin's treatment during the 2008 campaign, Powers complained:

I just think that idea that we just tolerate this because "it's just Joe" is not okay, you know, he should be held to the same standard as everybody else.

A bit later, she called Biden "overrated" and theorized that the media are soft on him because he "schmoozed" them with parties over the decades when he was in the Senate, prompting conservative panel member Jim Pinkerton to note that schmoozing the press did not make them more friendly to former President George H.W. Bush. Pinkerton:

Nobody schmoozed the press more than George H.W. Bush. I was there for that. And they personally liked him. Then they wrote stories, as Cal (Thomas) recalls, slamming him. ... By contrast, Obama hasn't done a press conference in months, and the press are irked about it, but that's as far as they get, irked.

As hard as it is to believe Biden isn't as big an idiot as Palin. Palin knew nothing of the founding fathers or the constitution or American history. She didn't even know what a vp was supposed to do. Biden was smart enough to get the media on his side whereas Palin thought the media should kiss her butt.

A. Because he's not an idiot.
B. The press DOES nail him when he says something stupid.

There's a big difference between saying something stupid (Biden) and not possessing basic knowledge about our country or the world, while trying to "fake" it (Palin).

I'm not sure why Obama seems to be steering clear of News Conferences, but he's given them before and will again, I'm sure.

I think it just shows how pathetic the two party system is. No one voted Obama/Biden because of Biden, just like no one really cares about Wrong Paul. Palin was the 'breath of fresh air' that quickly turned foul. Remember how long they went on about Chris Christie 'maybe' being VP, maybe running for pres, what a total nonstory, Chris Christie thinking of running VP, and that is a national story? The VP is pointless position to begin with.

Biden has gaffes, Obama has gaffes, Romney has gaffes etc. Most people who are in the public eye 24/7 mispeak or say something that can be taken out of context. Palin was not making gaffes she just had no idea what she was talking about. Making a gaffe and not knowing are two compeltely different things.

Very well said.

I'll add this: Tina Fey's Palin character on SNL destroyed Sarah Palin more so than her gaffes.

Gaffes are amusing, but not overly newsworthy except for a chuckle or two.
Sarah (my god, how are we still bringing her up anyhow?) wasn't being hammered for being riddled with gaffes, she got hammered because she seemed to really not know anything. At first it was thought it was just limelight jitters, but as they dug more, they realized this is a "dumb girl"...they aren't gaffes, this is actually whats going on in her head..aka, nothing..cliffnotes conjumbled into nothing.

Your saying the media keeps reporting on actual substance verses republican nonsense criteria...why are they spending all this time reporting on the details of Paul Ryan's medicare bill when they could instead focus on how Joe mispronounced something...

Ya, I can see how this would upset a cheerleader for the pubkins, but I think somewhere deep down there past the plastic wrap of the gop, you understand that news is about things newsworthy...but no worries, you got fox "news"...they will gladly spend the time ignoring anything newsworthy and instead report on the most trivial gaffes from the left verses news from the right.

He's been saying idiotic things for decades. But hey, if the MSM doesn't make an issue, there is none right?

Utter crap. They just give him a pass as "old joe" and let it go. There is no concerted effort to use his haffes to paint him as incompetent for the position he's in.

I'm not sure why Obama seems to be steering clear of News Conferences, but he's given them before and will again, I'm sure.

Oh, I'm sure you and your mass media would have just shrugged your shoulders if Bush did it too.

No, this was the mass media spin that was employed and got you hook, line and sinker. Why you cant see this is beyond me, but I feel sorry for you and the others.

Biden has been a cheating hustler for decades.

just google "biden plagiarism" for some old articles.

Not much mentioned these days about his cheating.

Come'on, you know as well as I do why the press gives a pass to biden and obama. I'd be willing to bet they've been bought and paid to not say anything bad about either one or at least gloss over anything they'd pounce on a Republican over. I'd look into soros, he seems to have his grubby little fingers into everything.

If certain people can't or won't admit the glaring double standard that is just blind political ideology speaking and the "god complex" they have.

The fact is Biden makes everyone look like a genius, followed up by Pelosi.

That media elite is mostly left leaning they will never cast their guys in a bad light.

"I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now. … When one person sneezes it goes all the way through the aircraft. That's me. I would not be, at this point, if they had another way of transportation, suggesting they ride the subway." --Joe Biden, providing handy tips to protect against the swine flu and freaking us out, "Today Show" interview, April 30, 2009

"If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there's still a 30% chance we're going to get it wrong." --Joe Biden, speaking to members of the House Democratic caucus who were gathered in Williamsburg, Va., for their annual retreat, Feb. 6, 2009

The fact is that the majority of M$M seems to favor the Left.

That makes it easier for Leftist candidates to get free campaign boosts by way of "news coverage" and editorials.

No wonder the right candidates have to raise more money !

But I think many people are waking up to the trick again.

So you agree there is a double standard. They slam people they dont like and give a pass to those who are "smart enough to get the media on his side".

There is a reason why Communications and Journalism are Liberal Arts degrees.

You think so? I personally find nothing surprising about anything you said in the OP. The news (except fox news) is very liberal oriented, of course they are going to double standard like this. Doesn't matter anyways, all the political candidates are garbage anyways and none of them have your best interests at heart.
