I've been a good person my entire life, I follow what Jesus taught to a tee. I love everyone as I love myself and I treat others as I would want to be treated. I have never been in a fight and have never intentionally hurt anyone or swindled anyone for my own benefit. I'm as truthful a person as you will ever find, I never lie unless I believe it is a necessary one in order to avoid hurting someone else. I have never killed any creature intentionally or for sport. I've never even stepped on an ant purposely. I believe I have perfect morality in the fact that I follow what Jesus taught, I grew up learning of the lessons he taught and believed the story around Jesus, the death and resurrection. I know these lessons and modeled my life around what he taught.

The only difference between me now and me while I was Christian is that I do not believe Jesus died on the cross or was resurrected three days later. I do not believe he walked on water or turned water into wine with a wave of a hand.

So tell me, why should I deserve to burn for eternity when I strive to emulate what Jesus was, a kind and loving person who holds no grudges and doesn't judge others based on their personal beliefs/opinions?

I'd like a better reason than 'because you don't believe in Jesus' please.

Thanks.

In my honest opinion there is no hell and it's all made up to keep people in line. Most aspects of religion are created for this effect....of course this is strictly my opinion and am not bashing on anyone's beliefs.

Ask a Muslim, a Jew or a christian and you will get different answers.

Why just focus on judeo christian beliefs (as you stated you don't believe them)

So how are you on your circle of Karma, would you be a roach or would you have already reached enlightenment?

Why focus on a belief system you already denied, you know the answer from Christianity as your last sentence asked not to give their answer so I wont.

I think you've pretty much nailed the right way to live, IMO. If there's a God that would send someone to hell for living like that, then this God is surely the Devil.

I'm starting to believe that the "Hell" of that time period would have been being Ex-communicated for heresy, holding such a belief etc..

Like the user above stated, it's to keep people in line, not an actual place for the soul, but in my opinion, a physical place in society, shunned essentially.

Over the past year, I have come to realize that exact thing. Christians will claim that they are not afraid of hell because they have been 'saved', but the thought of going to hell is always in the back of their minds, when they even consider something that is not taught in church or goes against what is taught in church, the first thing that pops into their head is 'it must be Satan'. I don't mean to assume what others think, I'm just basing my opinion off of my own experiences.

Hell is the sheep dog that keeps all the sheep in line. If the sheep stray from the pack, they know the sheep dog will come after them and possibly hurt them, that's why they never even consider breaking away from the pack.

Because Christianity is the religion I grew up in and know next to nothing about those other religions. Hell is synonymous with Christianity for most people so that is why I am focusing on Christianity.

Why can't you answer the question? That's the purpose of this thread, to get an idea of why Christians believe someone who lives like I do deserves to go to hell.

What is purgatory? How is that any better than hell? What is experienced in purgatory?

Nicodemus left us a good example:

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

John 3:1-15

What REALLY happens when a person is born again? Jesus' blood is applied.

"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." -Colossians 1:14

Hebrews 9:22, "...without shedding of blood is no remission. (forgivness )"

“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot."
-1st Peter 1:18,19

...and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1st John 1:7).

" When it boils right down to what accepting Jesus really is, it is decisional salvation which means that a person is suddenly born again, and the blood of Jesus is actually and really applied, when a person makes a decision. LINK

Because, You asked me not to.

I'd like a better reason than 'because you don't believe in Jesus' please.

But since you want the answer you asked me not to give...

Why can't you answer the question? That's the purpose of this thread, to get an idea of why Christians believe someone who lives like I do deserves to go to hell.

In christian theology man is not saved by any other action other than the acceptance of the free gift of salvation. Nothing more, nothing less.

You rejected that, So to a christian, that is why.

It's more fun in hell anyway, although there are a lot of terrible jokes there. Gotta laugh at them anyway or you get stabbed with a pitchfork. It's hell living there sometimes.

So you're answer is because I don't believe in Jesus? That's a terrible reason.

If those are the only requirements to get into heaven then I guess I can go on a killing spree and be okay. As long as I believe Jesus died for my sins, all those sins I committed by killing will be absolved?

That's a terrible concept for salvation in my opinion.

By saying Jesus' blood is applied literally means that my blood is replaced by Jesus' blood? Literally? .....
Sorry, but do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? No offense.

it is the spaces between heave and hell... and what is experienced is your free will @ the proving grounds.

see you've already learned of God and of good and evil, now you choose knowingly...

So that's the only answer you can give? So me emulating exactly what Jesus taught earns me the prize of eternal suffering and pain?

Is Jesus in hell right now?

The most popular version I've ever heard is : Purgatory is the waiting room for bad people while they wait for final judgement. Then you cease to exist and your records will be destroyed. You will never go to hell because that's exclusive for demons and/or fallen angels, and you got no wings.

I'm christian but I don't believe that.

You don't need to believe in god to be a good person. Isn't that what god wants? For us to be good people? For us to love one another?

If me not believing in a guy who lived 2,000 years ago overrides the way I live my life then that leads me to believe god is a self-righteous tyrant and I want nothing to do with him.

Why should I go to hell?

How can someone go to a place that doesn't even exist?

well OP if you believe that of yourself then you have nothing to worry about as the afterlife (if you believe one exists) exists as you believe it to, if life after death is "hell like" for anyone it is because they themselves KNOW they have made the wrong decisions in their lives and believe they themselves need to be punished.

and yeah as stated earlier i am also 1000's of times worse off than you are. i've practiced witchraft, satanism, and even sold my soul to satan at the age of 17 (however I have since reclaimed it and have banished him from my life) but I can't wait to get to hell, cos i'm gonna be the one doing the torturing
besides who wants to spend the rest of eternity with a bunch of christians anyway

Love, Light, and all that crap....
