No, it's not.

I would have said the same thing, whether it was George, or Obama, or Clinton or whoever was in office at the time.

I highly doubt the President would even have the required security clearance to know about all the stuff that goes on at the 'black' level of government, R&D and the alien stuff.

So you ARE saying that he shouldn't have access to the discoveries learned by NASA? That these SHOULD be kept in the hands of shadowy intelligence agencies with no accountability at all to the American people?

While you may simply see his statement as a joke, since he knows that secrets are being kept from him, maybe it was Obama taking the opportunity to tell NASA (and maybe by extension, the military), that they should be telling the President about any discoveries, if the US is still in any way a democracy?

Are you saying that when the POTUS learns something, he imediately runs out on the prime time and tells the American people?

He's just as much in the business of lying to you, than Fox News is.

It's not a democracy, and Obama certainly isn't the guy who is pushing to return it to one. I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a damn about the 'American People'. He cares about his scum bag friends, just like all Presidents care about.

The simplest answer, is that Obama was trying to make a lame joke, not give a hint to NASA regarding them disclosing information to him...

The Martian president has demanded to see everything the M.I.A. ( Martian Intelligence Agency) has on whether or not Obama was born in Hawaii.

I think I see a perfect opportunity for a new "birther" movement. Paul Ryan could demand that President Obama prove that he is in fact, a human being and not an "illegal alien".

But, what if the Martians are Human too? There would be no way to prove anything, since science doesn't even know "what" a Terrestrial Human is.

Why would he "limit" himself to "Martians"...why not include all Extra-Terrestrials? I mean if you want specific answers you have to ask specific questions.

So you sidestepped the question, because?? You do or you do not believe the President should have access to this information? Obviously if he does not have access to it, then he can't make any determination as to what gets shared can he? And obviously if the President does not have access to this information, there is no way the public will gain access to it, right? So you don't want the President to ask for this information unless he first provides assurances that he will release that information to the public? Is that it? If so, you may have a point. I personally very much doubt that the President would make a public plea for the information unless he had the intention of releasing it to the public.

Its possible that Obama was only making a joke, but when he makes a pointed statement like that, I'm sure he has many reasons. I guess it offends you the idea that the president might have a serious point to make, even if he wraps the point in something that might be taken lightly.

This is beyond idiotic.

The President is basically mocking the UFO community.

Not that I don't think there isn't any mocking to be had to a certain extent. But it's in the end, a lame joke.

This sort of thing should not constitute news, or make headlines...it's just silly.

Uh... No.
It obviously is not a joke. (or only a joke if you are the sort of religious fundamentalist that "pooh poohs" the whole idea of ET life.)

Your comment is silly. Obama's is simply a statement that the POTUS has (at least in his mind) a "right to know" about any discoveries that NASA should find, particularly the discovery of ET life.

Have you got a problem with that?

I'm not a ufologist, but perhaps I can understand why, or shed some light on the fact as to why some posts reveal a negative emotional association to the field is his choice of words used to refer to extraterestrial life-forms. For example:
Using the words "chick" or "babe" to refer to a woman often carry a negative connotation, especially if women are part of the audience. Those same words, however, may not cause much offence amongst a group of men talking about Angelina Jolie.
Or, "let me know when you find a cheap date" vs "Let me know when you find an econimical date". At the end of the day, the girl/guy referred to as econimical will be labeled with more respect and interpretated by other persos in a more positive fashion.

So do you really think POUS needed to say 'martians'" and being that he prob didn't have time to think about what we was going to say, and his writers didn't write it for him, needless to say it was first thought that came to mind. And frankly, I don't think if provides the most positive reference to non-humans and somewhat 'cartoony'.

The words of Obama are like: 'I do not know anything about Mars, if there is anything tell me' said in humoristic way... NOT 'I know you are hiding aliens! Tell me about them!'

Various imaginations, various interpretations

Jude writes:"I shudder to think about the consequences of Obama being what an alien experiences first of our civilization. If they think that he is representative of the entire human race... "

Ha!

The extraterrestrials would probably say; "See, our new hybrid experiment worked! We were successful in creating a hybrid human using "White DNA" and "Black DNA" and get him all the way into an important position of power! This is the very first time we have created such an important being since the time when we were considered to be "God" and we created "man in our own image, male and female" and called them, Adam and Eve, even as we documented three times in the Torah in Genesis 1:26, 1:27 and 5:1,2. Nobody believed that we did it then, so probably nobody will believe it now."

Ha! See, I knew you wouldn't believe because your Sunday School teachers brainwashed you into believing that the Spirit that inhabits the Sentient Universe is "male and female" in human form as painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
