What is the reason and purpose for the US tracking station facility at Alice Springs? Does anyone here actually know for certain?

Since the end of the Cold War, the station has mainly been employed with intercepting and recording weapons and communications signals from countries in Asia, such as China and North Korea. The station was active in supporting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq after the September 11 attacks.[3]

I found this a while ago and thought that paragraph was interesting.

But when it’s all secret in the first place who needs to get permission? The Pine Gap base also has an above ground diesel powered generating station which, it is claimed, is the only power station there. If that is so why is it shut down most of the time? If you need an electromagnetic free area you don’t build a power station in the middle of it. Of course it can be used when the base was not operating but then what keeps everything running when it is turned off-- batteries? Pine Gap is not connected to an outside electricity supply.

I live in "The Alice"

Sometimes I wake up early just to look outside - between 3am and 5am there is a lot of air traffic.

Sometimes 4 or 5 aircraft back to back. Weird.

Alice Springs only has 25 Thousand people, but the amount of airplanes(?) overhead is amazing.

Some apear to be just cylinders - No Wings?

I'm going to do a thread on this once I get a good high quality camera, I want a good zoom on these Planes/Things?

I will do it from my own backyard, so I'm not breaking any laws?

That would be great if you can get some pics.

Maybe there is some truth to these 'experimental aircraft' claims.

Not sure about the legality of taking pictures but I guess you could say you're a plane spotter!

ETA: If you type in 'Pine Gap' in the ats search there is literally loads of threads.
I would link some but I didn't realise how many there were so it'll be easier to just search it

I myself have no knowledge of what they do there but if you do some net research on the "The Two Rooshooters" who thought they were further away from Pine Gaps than they were one night, you will find out what they saw. The article (which I haven'tt got) which I read some years ago was very interesting and no, it was'nt reitilians either.

But, while I no longer have the video but I did see a video a year or so ago now in which a Kiwi bloke was hynotised and he started talking as a reptilian who stated that they sometimes chose to bask in the sun at pine gap because of the safety provided to them by its isolation. They got to Pine Gap using the subterranean railway.
